He is currently basking in  accolades for his latest production venture AK vs AK, a film which has been lapped up by the audiences as well as critics for bringing a new kind of cinema to India.

A black comedy thriller film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, AKvsAK , seen as the new kind of experiment in Bollywood, has been hailed by audiences as well as film critics for its taut and intriguing scripted deama.

Film analysts and critics are hailing the film as the 'Next level of Indian cinema'.

Anurag Kashyap is happy at the response that the film has generated across the country.

The filmmaker said that the prospect of blazing a trail in uncharted territory is exciting for him.

A master of film-making and a connoisseur of speaking his mind, no matter the consequences, a trait evident from his films like Black Friday , Gangs of Wasseypur and now AK vs AK, Anurag Kashyap said,'I like to colour outside the lines because it allows me to evolve. The prospect of blazing a trail in uncharted territory is equal parts daunting and exciting to me.”

The film , which stars Anurag Kashyap alongside Anil Kapoor in the title characters, with Yogita Bihani, Sonam Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor in supporting roles. The story, written by Avinash Sampath, utilises a film-within-a-film narrative where the main actors play fictionalised versions of themselves. After a public feud between Kashyap, an eccentric film director, and Anil Kapoor, an aging film star, the former kidnaps the latter's daughter (Sonam) and forces Kapoor to search for her while his assistant (Bihani) films them as part of his next project.

Seen as the new kind of experiment in Bollywood, AK vs AK has been hailed by audiences as well as film critics for its taut and intriguing scripted deama.

Anurag Kashyap has also received plaudits for his brilliant acting in what is seen as a new kind of experiment in Indian cinema.

AK vs AK released on Netflix on December 24, on the occasion of Anil’s birthday. 

It marks Vikramaditya Motwane’s second project for Netflix following Sacred Games.
