Shahid Kapoor's Jersey set to release in theatres on Diwali

Shahid Kapoor's much awaited sports drama Jersey is set for release in cinemas on Diwali.
Trade sources said that makers of Jersey, whose shooting completed recently, are planning to release the film in cinemas on November 5, 2021.
Talking to social media, Shahid Kapoor said, 'JERSEY releasing in theatres this DIWALI 5th November 2021. The triumph of the human spirit. A journey I am so very proud of. This ones for the TEAM .... '
Directed by Gowtham Tinnauri, presented by Allu Aravind and produced by Aman Gill, Dil Raju and S.Naga Vamsi, Jersey’ stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead role of a cricketer with Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in key roles.
A remake of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Telugu Film ‘Jersey', the film has music by Sachet and Parmpara.
The film was scheduled to be theatrically released on August 28 last year but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed production.
The film was wrapped up on December 14 last year.
Jersey is the story is about a thirty six year old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career ten years ago, now aiming to play for Indian team.
In a note after the wrap up of the film's shoot, Shahid had said that wrapping up the shoot amid the Covid pandemic was nothing short of a miracle.
'It’s a film wrap on #jersey.... 47 days of the shoot during covid. Just unbelievable. I am so proud of the entire team. It’s nothing short of a miracle. I want to thank each & everyone from the unit for coming to set every day, putting themselves at risk & doing what we all love,'Shahid said.
Shahid has said that Jersey is a story about the triumph of the indomitable spirit.
'Telling stories that touch hearts and make a difference. #Jersey is a story that speaks of a Phoenix rising from the ashes. The triumph of an indomitable spirit. If there was ever a time I could connect with the underlying spirit of a film this was it,'he said.?
Recently it was reported that Shahid has been roped in by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for his adaptation of the Mahabharata.
Shahid will play the role of Karna in the film, that tells the story of Mahabharata from the point of view of Karna.
