Siddharth Malhotra starts shooting for Mission Majnu

Shooting for espionage thriller Mission Majnu, inspired by real events in the 1970s, commenced in Lucknow today.

The commencement of the shooting for the film, which features Sidharth Malhotra in the role of a Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent , was announced by the makers RSVP Movies of Ronnie Screwvala.

Sharing a picture of the clap board from the first day of the shoot, the RSVP Movies posted on its official social media handle, "The first chapter of one of India’s deadliest covert operations begins today! #MissionMajnu commences shoot in Lucknow."

The RSVP Movies said that Mission Majnu, a spy thriller inspired by real events in the 1970s, is the story of India's most courageous mission. 

Written by Parveez Shaikh, Aseem Arrora and Sumit Batheja, "Mission Majnu" is the debut directorial venture of ad filmmaker Shantanu Bagchi. 

The film also marks South Indian star Rashmika Mandanna''s foray into Bollywood. 

Though Rashmika Mandanna didn't join the team due to her being busy with another shoot, she took to Instagram to wish the team good luck. 

Sharing RSVP Movies' Instagram post, she wrote, "Ahhhhh... My boys start roling today. All the bestest y'all. Have fun without me! ."

Rashmika Mandanna will join the shooting for Mission Majnu later.

Mission Majnu will tell the story of a mission that changed the relationship between India and Pakistan forever.

RSVP Movies said that Mission Majnu is an attempt to bring to the forefront sacrifices and efforts of spies and undercover agents who work behind the scenes to safeguard the interest of the country. 

'Mission Majnu is a thrilling tale about one of the most daring and audacious operations in the history of RAW,'it said. 

Sidharth Malhotra had recently shared the first-look poster of The film on social media.

The actor has said that it was a privilege to star in a film that celebrates the hard work of RAW agents. 

In a recent statement , Siddharth said, “Mission Majnu, a patriotic tale inspired by true events, celebrates the hard work of RAW agents who go out of their way to protect the citizens of our country. It is a privilege to tell the story of our brave agents, and I am eager to revisit a mission that forever changed the relationship between India and Pakistan. I am looking forward to sharing this special film with everyone.''

Rashmika Mandanna, known for films like Kirik Party, Dear Comrade and Sarileru Neekevvaru, has said that with Mission Majnu, she hoped to reach a newer audience. 

“I have been fortunate to receive so much love from audiences across languages. As an actor, it is always the story of the film that I connect with, and the language of the film is never a barrier for me. I am grateful to the makers for offering me Mission Majnu, which is written beautifully, and I am super excited to be part of a team that has so much passion. We are all working together to make it even more amazing. I am super excited to start my journey in Hindi cinema and to reach out to newer audiences,” she said.
