Covid Surge: release of Hindi version of Haathi Mere Saathi postponed, Q mark on upcoming mega starrers?

Following a surge in covid cases in many states in the country, including the Bollywood capital of Mumbai , Eros international has postponed the release of the Hindi version of its much awaited film Haathi Mere Saathi.
The Hindi version of the Rana Daggubati starrer , which was scheduled for release on March 26, has been postponed indefinitely due to present situation in the country, especially in Maharashtra, due to a surge in Covid cases.
The Tamil and Telugu version of Haathi Mere Saathi will , however, release on the scheduled date of March 26, an official statement by Eros International said.
In a statement, Eros said, 'dear viewers, it pains us to share this news but given the COVID-19 situation in the Hindi markets, the team of Haathi Mere Saathi has decided to hold on to the release of the film. We shall keep you posted on further developments. However, we will be releasing Aranya and Kaadan (Tamil and Telugu versions) in South Indian markets on March 26.'

Produced by Eros international and written and Directed by Prabhu Solomon, Haathi Mere Saathi was scheduled for release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on March 26.
The film features Rana Daggubati in the lead role of a man who fights for the jungle and the animals.
Haathi Mere Saathi also features Pulkit Samrat, Shreya Pilgaonkar and Zoha Hussain in key roles..

Due to the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, the state government has placed several fresh restrictions, including restricting capacity in Cinema halls and restaurants to 50 per cent.
The surge in covid cases in Maharashtra and several other states Constituting the Hindi film markets has adversely impacted the earnings of films released during the last two weeks- the Janhvi Kapoor Rajkummar Rao starrer Roohi and the John Abraham Emraan Hashmi starrer Mumbai Saga, which had generated tremendous buzz ahead of its release.
While Roohi earned just Rs 14 crore in its opening week, Mumbai Saga also performed well below expectations, earning Rs 8.5 cr in its opening weekend.
Trade experts say that the situation in Maharashtra and other states like Punjab has put a question mark on release of mega starrers scheduled to hit Cinema screens in coming weeks, including the sequel to Bunty Aur Babli, the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Chehre, Akshay Kumar Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi(scheduled to release in cinemas next month) , Salman Khan starrer Radhe and the John Abraham starrer Satyamev Jayate 2, which are slated for release in May.

Infact, , keeping in view the fresh surge in Covid cases in the country, the home ministry today issued fresh guidelines for the states, which will be in force till April 30.
The DGCA has suspended operation of international flights till April 30 in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases.
It now remains to be seen whether the makers of the upcoming mega starrers stick to their release date or decide to postpone release of their films.
