Lata Mangeshkar congratulates sister Asha Bhonsle for winning Maharashtra Bhushan Award for 2020

Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar today congratulated her younger sister Asha Bhonsle for wpbeing awarded the Maharashtra Bhushan award for the year 2020.
In a tweet in Marathi, Lata Mangeshkar, giving her blessings to Asha Bhonsle for winning the award, said ,'Hello. I heartily congratulate and bless my sister Asha Bhosale for being awarded the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan Award for the year 2020.'
Earlier, a tweet from the office of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that, 'Renowned singer Asha Bhonsle has been honoured with the Maharashtra Bhushan award for the year 2020.
A decision in this regard was taken by a Maharashtra Bhushan award selection committee set up under the Chairmanship of the chief minister . The chief minister has congratulated Ashatai on her selection. '

Born in Sangli in Maharashtra in 1933, Asha Bhonsle has sung over 16000 songs during her career as a playback Singer. Her father Dinanath Mangeshkar was an actor and classical singer.
After the death of their father when Asha was just 9 years old, Asha and her sister Lata Mangeshkar began playback singing in films to make both ends meet for their family.
The Maharashtra Bhushan is a highest and prestigious award presented annually by the government of Maharashtra.
When the Shivsena- BJP alliance came to power in 1995, it proposed to institute this award. The Maharashtra Bhushan was first awarded in 1996. It was initially conferred in every years in the fields of Literature, Art, Sport, and Science. Later the fields of Social Work, Journalism, and Public Administration and Health Services were included. The award is presented for outstanding achievement in their field.
Lata Mangeshkar had recieved the award in 1997 for her contribution in the field of art and Music.
