John Abraham's Northeast United FC extends support for those hit by Mizoram forest fire, Assam quake

Amid the continuing efforts by celebrities from Tinsel Town to provide relief to those affected by Covid-19,  John Abraham, who owns the Northeast United Football Club,  has now extended support for relief and rehabilitation of those hit by the forest fires jn Mizoram and the earthquake in Assam.

A statement issued by the Northeast United Football Club that has has been extending support for covid relief efforts in the North Eastern region of the country, said that it is extending the amplification of relief being provided to Covid-19 affected people in the Northeast to the people affected by forest fire jn Mizoram and the earthquake in Assam.

'It has been a very difficult month. The devastating impact of the second wave has been heartbreaking to witness. While trying to fight this cruel pandemic, a forest fire broke out.on the 24th Aprin Mizoeam. And just today, we experienced a massive earthquake that originated jn Assam but was felt throughout the region.

We as a club exist for the people of the Northeast and the legacy we wish to leave is beyond that of being just a football team. To that end, over the past few weeks have been using our social media handle to amplify any Covid-19 assistance required by the people of the Northeast. We are now extending this amplification to any assistance that may be required by those effected by the forest fire in Mizoram and the earthquake in Assam.

The people of the Northeast have always had one trait that has United hhem- their resilience. Our unity has been our greatest strength and we will come out of this 'strongerasone',the statement by the club said.

Massive forest fires broke out two days ago in several parts of Mizoram, damaging vast tracts of land and vegetation, forcing chief minister Zoramthanga to seek Centra.

Though Lunglei is the worst affected, at least three other districts –  Serchhip, Lawngtlai and Hnahthial- have been  affected by the forest blaze.

Yesterday, a powerful earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale jolted Assam and other parts of Northeast . Seven aftershocks were recorded in the hours after the first quake .

A road in Sonitpur that was the epicentre of the earthquake has developed a crack following the impact of the earthquake while several buildings and walls in the area suffered damages.

An Indian professional football club based in Guwahati in Assam that competes in the Indian Super League, the top tournament of Indian football, NorthEast United Football Club represents the 8 states of India known as North East India which consist Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Mizoram.[2]

Amid the unprecedented surge in covid cases in the country,  Celebrities from the world of entertainment have been doing their bit to people affected by covid jn the country by sharing  information about vaccination centres, oxygen supply and availability of hospital beds in the country.
