Maharani acclaimed by viewers,celebrities for engrossing political drama,performance by Huma Qureshi

After the accolades for the political power play in web series Tandav earlier this year,  new web series Maharani is getting plaudits for its engrossing story of an illiterate housewife's transformation into a shrewd politician.

The web series , which has been streaming on Sony Liv platform,  has won effusive praise for its realistic portrayal of politics in India’s heartland. 

Huma Qureshi has also won lot of acclaim for her brilliant portrayal of  an illiterate house wife turned politician.

Audiences and people from several walks of life have heaped lavish praises on  Huma Qureshi for her performance in the show.

Among those who complemented the show and Huma Qureshi's performance in it include filmmakers Anubhav Sinha, Kunal Kohli and Sudhir Mishra, actress Twinkle khanna ,singer and actor Archana Pania , bureaucrat Gaurav Dwivedi and industrialist Sanjiv Bajaj.

Audiences are also loving the political drama in Maharani. Infact, the euphoric response from viewers has boosted the IMDB rating of the film to 6.8.

Maharani gets acclaimed for engrossing political drama,  performance by Huma Qureshi 

Filmmaker Sudhir Misra praised Maharani for its gripping and nuanced political drama as well as for the brilliant performances from the cast.

'Maharani on SonyLIV is fun,enjoyable ,gripping  nuanced. Besides the politics,d interpersonal relationships are very finely drawn.The ensemble cast performs well,playing it with a sense of truth ! And this may be Huma Qureshi ‘s finest hour .Amit Sial & Sohum shah shine ,'Sudhir Misra said.

Anubhav Sinha also lauded the web series for its gripping storyline.

Twinkle Khanna also took to Instagram to praise ghe show.

 . "I have been watching this show called Maharani on SonyLIV and it has me gripped. Huma Qureshi plays this illiterate housewife who then goes on to becoming the CM and I thought it was interesting to see a woman not only hold her ground but who is able to dominate the social and political arena," Twinkle Khanna said in a video posted on Instagram.

Praising Huma Qureshi for her performance,  Twinkle said, 'I kept noticing how in the beginning even her ghoonghat (veil) completely covers her and as the show progresses it keeps slipping a little little behind till it's just about covering her bun,. To me these little touches add a sort of realism as well as they show me a journey. It's an engaging story and Huma is just fabulous as the Maharani. For me this was completely a must watch, Totally worth the binge! An engaging story about ambition and power with great performances especially by Huma Qureshi. You go girl.'

Filmmaker Kunal Kohli also complemented Huma Qureshi for her performance in the show.

Bureaucrat Gaurav Dwivedi, the advisor of the chhattisgarh government also heaped praises on Huma Qureshi for her performance.

Twinkle khanna,  Sudhir Misra and Anubhav Sinha heap effusive praise on web series Maharani 

Directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Subhash Kapoor, Maharani ,  loosely based on the events that took place in Bihar after former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's wife Rabri Devi, stepped into Bihar politics in the 1990s, began streaming on SonyLIV from Friday.

Rani Bharti (Huma Qureshi) is a homemaker and the wife of Bihar's chief minister Bheema (Sohum Shah). All she cares about is her house and her husband. She wants to pack her bags and go back to the village after her husband resigns from the post of Bihar's Chief Minister . But her life takes a turn when her husband and Bihar's CM is made to announce the name of his successor. While his party members look excited to hear who has been anointed, he makes Rani his successor, leaving everyone surprised.

Maharani also features  Pramod Pathak, Rani Kusum and Vineet Kumar in  key roles.

The series has been evoking a tremendous response from the audience,.

The audience response has boosted the IMDB rating of the series to 6.8.

Subhash Kapoor had earlier produced and directed the Richa Chadha starrer Madam Chief Minister,  loosely  inspired from the life of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati.
