Psychological thriller Samanthar,engrossing mystery Haseen Dilruba to entertain on OTT this week

After  engrossing drama Grahan(DisneyHotstar), the cross border love story Dhoop Ki Deewar(Zee5) , satirical anthology Ray(Netflix) and action drama Puncch Beat 2(Alt Balaji) last week, taut psychological thrillers and murder mysteries are set to entertain audiences on the digital screen this week .

Scheduled to hit the digital screens this week are season 2 of psychological thriller Samanthar  and engrossing mystery Haseen Dilruba .

Samantar, a thriller web series telling the story of two individuals who  share the same destiny and  the same palm lines, now returns for its second season on MX Player.

An edge of the seat psychological thriller, Samantar is a story about a young man Kumar Mahajan, whose life changes after he goes on journey to find, Sudarshan Chakrapani, a man who shares the same destiny with him. The life that Kumar is living is the life that Chakrapani has already lived.

The season 1 of the series entertained viewers with its edge of the seat thrills .

Season 1  saw Marathi superstar Swwapnil Joshi step into the role of Kumar Mahajan. It followed Kumar’s search to find Sudarshan Chakrapani (Essayed by Nitish Bharadwaj), a man who had already lived the same life as Kumar and could tell him what’s to happen in the time to come. This intriguing narrative ended on a cliffhanger with Kumar having found Chakrapani and his diaries of the past, which reveal what Kumar’s future will look like.

The streaming platform earlier this month shared the teaser of  Samanthar season 2.

Samantar ,  directed by  Satish Rajwade , will be streamed on Mx player from July 1.

The season 1 of the show won appreciation  for Swwapnil Joshi for his performance as Kumar Mahajan.

Streaming on Netflix from July 2  will be intriguing murder mystery Haseen Dilruba,  which features Tapsee Pannu,  Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane in key roles.

Rishabh Malhotra (Vikrant Massey) and Rani (Tapsee Pannu ) are a newly married couple.  However,, soon after their marriage,  Rishabh is killed on an explosion.  The needle of suspicion points towards Rani.

The action and behavior of Rani are seen to create a suspicion of her involvement in the murder. At the very beginning of her married life,  there are suggestions of her having an affair with another man (Harshvardhan Rane) and not being the ideal wife which makes her husband overtly suspicious of her behavior.

However,  as they say there are two sides of a coin. The truth as you perceive depends on which side of the coin you wish to see.

The posters and trailer of the film have created an element of intrigue around the film.

The trailer, shared by the film's lead actress Tapsee earlier this month, promises an engrossing mystery.

Haseen Dilruba has been directed by Vinil Mathew, who earlier directed the Parineeti chopra Siddharth Malhotra starrer Hassee Toh Phasee,.

The film , which has been produced by Anand Rai in association with Color Yellow Productions, streams on Netflix from July 2.

Ahead of the release of the film on Netflix, Tapsee Pannu yesterday shared a video of  behind the scenes moments during the making of the film.

Speaking of her role in the film,  Tapsee  has said the film allowed her to experiment with her looks.

'Haseen Dilruba was a film I had a very strong gut feeling about the day I heard the basic idea from Kanika. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the first choice for the film and it came to me after all their options were exhausted. The good old saying that, if it’s meant for you it will come to you stands true for this case.

It’s not just a beautifully written mystery, it has such wonderful characters involved which is candy in an actor’s hands. I am glad I got to experiment with my look and performance with this one because I am definitely not the go to person for this kind of character conventionally and we all love to take risks here,she said.
