Season one of the espionage thriller The Family Man was about the heroics of Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee), an intelligence officer who is tasked with the job of foiling designs of the enemies of the Nation., and his desparate efforts to balance his family life with his high pressure job
Season 2 of the espionage thriller continues from where the first season ended. Srikant's desire to improve his relationship with his family has resulted in him quitting his job as officer of the TASC intelligence service and taking up a 9 to 5 job as an employee at an IT firm. However, he can’t stay away from adventure for long . So, when JK (Sharib Hashmi) is sent to Chennai to nab a former foreign insurgent Subbu, brother of Tamil insurgent group chief Bhaskaran, Srikant finds himself getting seeped into the affair. Later, with his relationship with his wife Suchitra going nowhere, Srikant rejoins TASC.
During a hostage situation in Chennai, Subu gets killed in blast. This results in Bhaskaran joining hands with Major Sameer of the ISI (Darshan Kumar) to activate an elite unit to avenge his brother's death. The elite unit is headed by Raji(Samantha Akkineni), a trained guerilla who is a secret member of the Tamil insurgent group. As Raji embarks on her mission to wreak vengeance against enemies of the Tamil Eelam, Srikant Tiwari and his team find themselves racing against time.
The Family Man 2is a gripping thriller with an outstanding debut by Samantha |
In Season 1 of the show, the audience loved Manoj Bajpayee as a stylish officer of the TASC whose passion for his job and his love for the nation made him an impregnable foe for the terrorists and conspirators.
Viewers also loved the queer sense of humour of Srikant Tiwari as he tries to strike a balance between his family life and his high pressure job .
Like the first season, Manoj Bajpayee again leaves an impression in season 2 with his act as a perceptive intelligence officer who is passionate about his job of saving the nation from its enemies. Also intact is his sense of humour as family man who is trying to salvage his family life in the midst of his high pressure job.
The new Season of the show, however, also witnesses South Indian actress Samantha Akkineni create a resounding impact as Raji, a secret member of the Tamil insurgent group who has embarked on her mission to wreak vengeance against enemies of the Tamil Eelam.

A woman of a few words, Raji bowls you over with searing intensity of a Tamil insurgent focused on her task of accomplishing the mission assigned to her by her chief Bhaskaran. As Raji, who is the perfect foil to Srikant Tiwari, Samantha Akkineni is simply outstanding in her debut in a Hindi web series. While she speaks only a few dialogues, most of them in Tamil, Samantha let's her face do most of the talking. Infact, she is one of the USPs of The new season.
Undoubtedly, one of the most remarkable debuts in a film or web series in recent times.
Sharib Hashmi , Priyamani, Ashlesha Thakur and Vedant Sinha are impressive as Srikant's colleague, his wife Suchitra, daughter Dhriti and son Atharv. The rest of the cast, including Sunny Hinduja, Dilip Tahil, Seema Biswas, Shahanb Ali, Darshan Kumar, Vipin Sharma and Sunny Hinduja lend able support.
The screenplay by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK is extremely gripping and keeps you constantly hooked to the proceedings . Directors Raj and DK deserve full credit for maintaining interest in the proceedings and extracting brilliant performances from the cast.
In short, The Family Man 2 is another gripping thriller by Raj and DK with outstanding debut in a Hindi web series by Samantha Akkineni. Manoj Bajpayee again aces the stylish cop act.
My rating 3/5- one for the gripping screenplay, one for direction and one for the outstanding debut by Samantha Akkineni as Raji.
