Prithviraj earns Rs 23 cr in two days

Continuing its strong run at the box office,  historical venture Prithviraj, a biopic on life of legendary emperor Prithviraj Chauhan,  has earned Rs 23 cr in two days and looks set for another blockbuster weekend after Bhool Bhulaiya2.

Prithviraj, which had an encouraging start on Friday with earnings of Rs 10.75 cr,  saw a jump in its collections on Saturday to Rs 12 cr, taking its two day earnings to Rs 23 cr.

Produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi,  Prithviraj did excellent business in Uttar Pradesh,  Bihar, Rajasthan,  Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

Trade experts say that the film is likely to witness another jump in its collections on Sunday. 

The good showing by Prithviraj,  shortly after the blockbuster run by horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiya2,  has come as a boost to the film trade which has been witnessing an average run by films released in the previous weeks like Jersey,  Attack and Heropanti 2. 

Thd film, which features Akshay Kumar and former Miss World Manushi Chhillar in the lead roles , is  the biopic of the warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chauhan dynasty who waged a fierce clash against the Islamic Conquest of India by Mohammed Ghori, a ruler from the Ghurid dynasty.

Produced by Yash Raj Films and Aditya Chopra,  Prithviraj stars Akshay Kumar in the title role of Prithviraj Chauhan..

Prithviraj stars Manushi Chhillar as Prithviraj Chauhan's wife Sanyogita.

Manushi Chhillar makes her Bollywood ebut with the film.

Prithviraj also stars Sanjay Dutt,  Sonu Sood,  Ashutosh Rana,  Sakshi Tanwar,  Manav Vij and Lalit Tiwari in pivotal roles.

Prithviraj was earlier scheduled for release in cinemas November 13, 2020 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Later, the film was scheduled for release on January 21, 2022 but had to be postponed due to the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
