You look younger than the hero: Nargis complemented Pran after watching Zanzeer 


Nargis' comments came after she watched rushes of the film

It was not just the cine going audiences who praised veteran actor Pran for his performance in the classic thriller 'Zanzeer'. The legendary actor recieved accolades from no less a star than the acting powerhouse Nargis for his performance in the film. 


According to the biography of Pran , the actor's performance in Zanzeer won him effusive praise from Nargis,  considered one of the greatest actresses in Hindi films. 


The comments by Nargis came on Pran's performance in the song 'Yaari Hai Imaan Mera Yaar Meri Zindagi '.

Speaking in an interview to the biography,  superstar and the leading hero of Zanzeer Amitabh Bachchan, recalling the reaction of Nargis after watching the song 'Yaari Hai Imaan Mere', said, Pran saab put so much zest and gusto in that song in 'Zanzeer '. He was very endearing in that song. 


I still remember  Nargisjee was still alive at that time. She saw the trial of the film and actually called him(Pran) up and said, 'you know,  you look younger than the hero you are working with.  Remarkable!'' 


The song 'Yaari Hai Imaan Mera Yaar Meri Zindagi ', which comes in thirteenth or fourteenth reel of the film, is an attempt by the character Sher Khan(Pran), a close friend of the hero Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) , to make him smile. 


The immortal song is still telecast on various music channels from time to time and the mass audiences remember to this day the enthusiasm with which Pran danced to that item.


Amitabh Bachchan, who made his Hindi film debut in Khwaja Ahmed Abbas's 'Saat Hindustani', starred in several box office failures like 'Parwana', Reshma Aur Shera', 'Ek Nazar', 'Raste Ka Pathar' , 'Sanjog' and Guddi', till Prakash Mehra's Zanzeer skyrocketed him to fame as the new 'angry young man ' of Bollywood.
