Even as the surge in covid cases in the country has adversely affected film business in the country, especially the collections of Bollywood films, the horror comedy Roohi has managed to earn Rs 22 cr in two weeks.

The film, which released on March 10, earned Rs 32 lakh from Cinema halls on its second Thursday, taking its earnings in two weeks to Rs 22 crore.

Roohi earns Rs 22 crore in cinemas in two weeks

Though the film, which features Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles while featuring Varun Sharma in a key role, has done below average business, collections of the film have remained steady during the weekdays this week as well as during the previous week.

The poor footfalls at the Cinema halls is being attributed to the fresh surge in Covid cases in many states in the country especially in Maharashtra, which is considered the hub of the Hindi film business in the country.

Thus week, Roohi faces competition in cinemas from the Parineeti Chopra starrer Saina and the Hollywood film Godzilla Vs Kong.

While Saina released in Cinema halls today, Godzilla Vs King released in Cinema halls on Wednesday.

The worsening covid situation in the country has also adversely impacted the earnings of the gangster film Mumbai Saga, which released in theatres last week.

Infact , the present situation has also put a question mark on release of mega starrers scheduled for release in cinemas in the next couple of months. These include Bunty Aur Babli2, Chehre, Sooryavanshi and Salman Khan starrer Radhe.
