Trade sources said that Mumbai Saga saw good footfalls at the single screen theatres while recording only an average occupancy at the multiplexes.

The 'lower than expected' earnings of Mumbai Saga on the opening day has been attributed to the fresh surge in Covid cases in the country in recent weeks, which has led to the Maharashtra government impissing fresh restrictions in the state, including allowing just 50 per cent capacity in theatres.

The low collections of the film have also been attributed to the fact that a large chunk of earnings of the film were expected from Mumbai as it is about the transformation of Bombay to Mumbai.

Directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by his White Feather Films in association with T series, Mumbai Saga features John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles with Suniel Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Prateik Babbar, Samir Soni, Amole Gupte and Gulshan Grover in key roles.

Set in the 80s and the 90s,, Mumbai Saga tells the story of the changing face of Mumbai , from a city of big mills to becoming an urban landscape comprising of malls and high rise buildings.

The film's trailer and promis had generated tremendous buzz for the film ahead of its release.
