More trouble for The Family Man 2,Vaiko demands that its release on Amazon Prime be stopped

The Family Man 2 continues to be mired in controversies over its content.

In more trouble for the action thriller web series, scheduled to be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from June 4, MDMK leader and Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko has written to Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar , demanding that its release on Amazon Prime Video be stopped  as it allegedly portrays Tamil people as terrorists.

In a letter to Mr Javadekar,  Vaiko said that the trailer of The Family Man 2,  recently released on social media, depicts Tamilians as terrorists and ISI agents and having links with Pakistan.

'Therefore,  it is urged that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting take immediate steps to stop the release of The Family Man 2 on OTT,  Amazon premium etc,'Vaiko said.

'The trailer of The Family Man 2 was  recently released on social media network,  depicting Tamilians as terrorists and ISI agents and having links with Pakistan. Moreover,  the sacrifices made by the Tamil Eelam warriors were wrongly shown as a terrorist act.

Tamil speaking actre Samandha was shown as a terrorist and having connections with Pakistani terrorists. These descriptions have hurt the sentiments of Tamil people and Tamil culture and offensive against the Tamil community. People of Tamil Nadu are raising objections against such act and are protesting against the serial.

Therefore,  it is urged that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting take immediate steps to stop the release of The Family Man 2 on OTT,  Amazon premium etc.  Otherwise the people of Tamil Nadu will react very seriously and the government has to face serious consequences, 'Vaiko said in his letter.

Trailer of The Family Man 2 , released  last week, shows South Indian actress, Samantha Akkineni as a member of the Tamil rebels, who joined hands with a dangerous terrorist organization, ISIS, to unleash an attack on India.

The trailer has evoked a lot of curiosity among viewers,  garnering 40 million views in just four  days.

However,  it has also stirred controversy by evoking the ire of some sections.

Earlier, on Saturday,  Naam Tamilar Katchi, a political party in Tamil Nadu considering LTTE founder V Prabhakaran as its idol,  demanded a ban on the series for its alkeged portrayal of the LTTE as terrorists .

In a statement , NTK chief co coordinator Senthamizah Seeman said that the series should be banned as it portrays Tamizh people as terrorists.

Season 2 of the action thriller web series, which streams on Amazon Prime Video from June 4, will see intelligence officer Srikant Tiwari(Manoj Bajpayee) battle a new nemesis -a Tamil insurgent group which has joined hands with the ISI to wreak havoc in India.

The streaming platform  had last Tuesday unveiled a poster of the web series , that   featured Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni. The poster featured  Samantha Akkineni in a bruised look, giving  a peek into more intriguing twists and turns in the season 2 of the show.

Produced by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D K, the season 2 of The Family Man will see Manoj Bajpayee reprise his role of intelligence officer Srikant Tiwari ,  with Samantha Akkineni, Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwantary featuring in pivotal roles

Season 2 of show will also mark the digital debut of actor Samantha Akkineni. In the series, Samantha essays the role of Raji, a new nemesis of Srikant Tiwari, played by Manoj Bajpayee. She plays a Sri Lankan Tamilian.

The Family Man , created and visualized by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D K,revolves around a middle-class man named Srikant, who works for a special cell of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The series explores Srikant's life  as he strives to strike a balance between his high-pressure, high-stakes job and being a husband and a father.

After season 1 of  The Family Man released last year on Amazon Prime Video, kept the viewers intrigued with its various twists and turns and had them on the edge of their seats, there has been a lot of curiosity regarding therelease of Season 2 of the series.

The makers had earlier hinted at a February release of the Season 2 of the popular action thriller web series, which features Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role of an intelligence officer.

However,  in February,  makers of the popular web series said that season 2 will ts release in Summer of 2021.
