Aarya was a heart warming journey of self discovery; Sushmita Sen

She made an impressive digital debut last year with the crime thriller series Aarya, story of an ordinary  woman who takes charge of her life and her family after the murder of her husband and takes help from the mafia to avenge death of her husband.

On the first anniversary of Aarya, former Miss Universe and Bollywood actor Sushmita Sen went down memory lane to reminisce about the sweet memories during the making of the web series,  streamed on Disney Hotstar.

Sharing a video of some behind the scenes moments during the shooting of Aarya,  Sushmita Sen said that working on Aarya had been a heart warming journey for her.

On this occasion,  she expressed thanks to all the members of the cast and crew of Aarya for traveling with her on the memorable journey of making the show.

On the occasion,  she said that she was excited for season 2 of ghe web series and eagerly waiting to present it to the viewers.

Created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi and directed by Sandeep Modi, Aarya was produced by Ram Madhvani under the banner Ram Madhvani Films, along with Endemol Shine Group.

Based on the Dutch drama series Penoza, Aarya is about Aarya, an independent woman who seeks to protect her family after murder of her husband and joins a mafia gang in order to get revenge for her husband's murder.

The web series starred  Sushmita Sen in the titular role while featuring Chandrachur Singh, Sikander Kher, Maya Sarad, Jayant Kriplani and Manish Chaudhary in key roles.

The story of Aarya revolves around Aarya Sareen (Sushmita Sen), who is a caring mother and a loving wife. She is quite naïve however and is unaware of the illegal business her husband is a part of. Things go badly for their family after Aarya's husband Tej Sareen (Chandrachur Singh), a pharma baron, is mysteriously killed. The drug mafia and illegal syndicates seek the death of his entire family. In response Aarya joins the gangs and becomes the mafia queen and seeks revenge against those who killed her husband. While doing so, she also takes care of her three kids.

The first season, which began  streaming on Disney Hotstar last year, created a lot of buzz . Sushmita Sen got lot of appreciation for her performance as Aarya.

Sushmita Sen won the award for Best actor Female at the Filmfare OTT awards held earlier this year.

Shooting for the second season of the web series is currently going on and the season 2 is expected to release in 2021.
