Condolences pour in from Pakistan and Afghanistan on Dilip Kumar's death

Death of legendary actor Dilip Kumar,  whose fan following spanned across  several countries of South Asia has evoked sadness and shock from across the Indian subcontinent.

Celebrities as well  as film lovers from neighboring Pakistan and Afghanistan today expressed condolences on Dilip Kumar's death.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran khan,  President of Pakistan Arif Alvi  and Pakistani cricketers Shahid Afridi and Shoib Akhtar expressed their condolences on Dilip Kumar's death.

Expressing condolence on death of Dilip Kumar , Pakistani Prime Minister Imran khan said, 'Saddened to learn of Dilip Kumar's passing.  I can never forget his generosity in giving his time to help raise funds for SKMTH when project launched. This is the most difficult time - to raise first 10% of the funds & his appearance in Pak & London helped raise huge amounts.'

Pakistani President Arif Alvi also expressed deep sorrow over the death of legendary actor of the subcontinent, #DilipKumar. He extended his condolences to the family and the loved ones.

'Sorry to see Dilip Kumar depart from his worldly abode. An outstanding actor,  a humble man and a dignified personality  Condolences to his immediate family and huge family of admirers. May his soul rest in peace,''President  Arif Alvi said.

Pakistani cricketers Shahid Afridi and Shoib Akhtar also mourned death of Dilip Kumar.

'Indeed to Allah we belong and to Allah we shall return. A huge loss for Yousuf Khan sahib's fans from KPK to Mumbai and across the globe. He lives on in our hearts. Deepest condolences to Saira Banu sahiba. #DilipKumar,'Shahid Afridi said.

He shared a  picture from Dilip Kumar visit to his birthplace Peshawar on top of Qila Bala Hisaar. .

'He was my uncle's favourite too.. He made us watched this movie, AAN, more than 100 times I guessed.. Really he was a legend who'll live in hearts forever,'Dr.
Khurran Siddique from  Karachi said.

A journalist from Pakistan shared a throwback video of Government of Pakistan honouring #DilipKumar  with it's highest civilian honour, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz [Order of Excellence] in 1998  .



Afghanistan expressed grief on Dilip Kumar's death 


People from Afghanistan also expressed grief on Dilip Kumar's death.

Condoling the death of Dilip Kumar,  the organization Doctors of Afghanistan said, 'The passing away of legendary #DilipKumar is no doubt like an era comes to an end. Yousaf Khan of Peshawar was an eyewitness of the Qissakhwani Massacre. The Peshawariites are mourning this huge loss. RIP Hero .'

Expressing his condolences,  Afghanistan ambassador of India  Farid Mamundzay said, 'DilipKumar, an actor of great caliber and one of the best actors Bollywood has ever produced will be remembered for his role to connect people across cultures. We are deeply saddened by the news of Kumar ji/Yousaf Khan’s passing. Legacy of this Afghan-origin-Indian will live4long.'


Born in Peshawar in Pakistan,  Dilip Kumar enjoyed a popularity that spanned several countries of South Asia and the Arab world.

The legendary actor died this morning at the P D Hinduja hospital in Mumbai after a long illness,  at the age of 98.
