83 to release on Netflix and Disney Hotstar on February 18

After entertaining audiences in theatres,  Kabir Khan's 83, a film that tells the story of India’s historic triumph in 1983 Cricket World Cup,  is ready to stream on two digital platforms.

The Ranveer Singh starrer will stream on Netflix and Disney Hotstar streaming platforms from February 18.

While Netflix will stream the Hindi version of the film,  Disney Hotstar will stream its regional versions.

The digital release of the film comes after a seven week theatrical run of the film,  which had a below average run in theatres in India.

The film,  which released to a tremendous hype, had a lacklustre opening week of Rs 67.83 cr with a major portion of the collections coming from the metro cities like Mumbai,  Delhi and Bangalore.  However,  the film failed to perform well in the non metro cities,  getting strong competition from the Hindi version of Pushpa.

The film has earned Rs 102 cr in its seven weeks.

Released on Christmas last year, 83, released in Hindi, Tamil,  Telugu,  Kannada and Malayalam versions, saw its theatrical revenues adversely hit by the spread of the third wave of COVID-19 in the country dominated by the Omicron variant which led to shutdown of theatres in several parts of the country due to spiraling of cases.

83 stars Ranveer Singh in the role of the former Indian Cricket captain Kapil Dev with Deepika Padukone playing his wife and Tahir Raj Bhasin,  Jeeva and Pankaj Tripathi starring in pivotal roles.
