Shoot for Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Singh story begins

Shooting for Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Singh Story, the first in in the Special Ops Universe series announced by Disney Hotstar and filmmaker Neeraj Pandey last month, commenced at an international location  last evening.

Sharing a picture of the outdoor shoot for the show, which will deal with the back story of RAW officer Himmat Singh, Neeraj Pandey said, '1.5 begins.'

In a cheer for those looking forward to a sequel of the Special Ops web series, Neeraj Pandey and Disney Hotstar last month announced a multi-series franchise called Special Ops Universe.

Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Singh Story will be the first show in the Special Ops Universe franchise .

The show , which will see Menon reprising his role of Himmat Singh from the 2020 series, will tell Singh's backstory and form a pivotal part of the universe in three episodes .

In a statement after the announcement of the series last month, the filmmaker had said,"We are starting off with a unique 'Special Ops 1.5' which is neither a prequel nor a sequel. The series will start with Himmat Singh being assigned to another case, but the deflection point is the same parliament attack that started the series of events. It will be narrated across three episodes, approximately an hour-long each.

The new series will be shot in various international locations and will have more action and drama compared to the original.

Kay Kay Menon, who played the protagonist in Special Ops, has said Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Singh Story' is a terrific redemption story.

'There is some interesting history about the character that will unfold. As an actor, I strive to do different things, and being part of a new universe is very exciting,'he said.

Special Ops, an espionage thriller web series created and directed by Neeraj Pandey and also produced by him under his Friday Storytellers, was streamed on Disney Hotstar from March 17 last year.

It stars Kay Kay Menon as Himmat Singh, a member of Research and Analysis Wing, who forms a team of five agents, in order to track down a person, who is the mastermind of the terror attacks on Parliament.

The web series was very popular and there was an overwhelming demand for the sequel of the espionage thriller web series.
