Mumbai Saga, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar release in cinemas Mar 19, hope to continue bringing audiences to theatres

After a boost to theatrical revenues by the horror comedy Roohi this week, the coming Friday will witness the release of the gangster film Mumbai Saga and thriller Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar , which will be looking to continue process of bringing the audiences back to the theatres amid a surge in covid cases in many states, including Maharashtra. 

Releasing in cinemas this week is Sanjay Gupta's gangster film  Mumbai Saga, a film that has generated tremendous buzz over the past few weeks due to its catchy posters and action filled trailer.

Directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by T series, Mumbai Saga , set in the 80s and the 90s, tells the story of the changing face of Mumbai , from a city of big mills to becoming an urban landscape comprising of malls and high rise buildings.

Gangster film Mumbai Saga releases in cinemas this week amid surge in covid cases 


Mumbai Saga features an ensemble cast comprising  of John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Suniel Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Prateik Babbar, Samir Soni, Amole Gupte and Gulshan Grover.

The shooting of the film was wrapped up in October last year. 

The promos and the trailer of the film have generated lot of buzz among vinegars and the makers are hopeful that the film will continue the process of bringing the audiences back to the theatres, that was started by Roohi last week, notwithstanding the restrictions imposed by the Maharashtra government following a surge in covid cases.

The makers earlier this week organized a special screening of the film for the cast of the film and for the members of the film industry. Trade sources said that the film got a thumbs up from the people in the film world. 


Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar releases this week 


Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is another much awaited film that is scheduled for release this week. 

Directed by Dibakar Banerjee , who had earlier directed films like Khosla ka Ghosla and Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, and produced by Yashraj films,Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar follows the story of a man and woman who represent two completely different Indians.

"Pinky" Dahiya is a Haryanavi Police Officer while Sandeep Kaur is someone from the Corporate world. However, they are united by their mistrust, suspicion, and hatred for each other.

Yashraj films had last month announced its slate of films for the year, which included Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.

A black comedy, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, being presented by yashraj films,  beings together Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor for the first time after  Ishaqzaade and Namaste England. 

The film was scheduled to be released in March last year but was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

The chemistry of Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor was highly appreciated in Ishaqzaade and Namaste England and audiences are looking to again see them together on the big screen.

The makers had recently released a catchy  poster of the film , featuring Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor in a juxtaposed look.

The release of the films comes amid fresh restrictions imposed by the Maharashtra government following a surge in covid cases in the state. 

However,  the makers of these films feel that the strong content of the films will draw audiences to the theatres.
