 By Rajesh Ahuja

Even as the makers of mega starrers Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2 and Chehre decided to defer release of their films following the spurt in covid cases in many states in the country, including Maharashtra,  producers of  Suraj Joshi's Flight today  announced that it will release in cinemas on its scheduled date of April 2.

In a statement , the makers of the film said that they are expressing their solidarity with people engaged in the film business by releasing the film on its scheduled date. They said that they hope to play a role in the film industry's march towards normalcy.

'The current circumstances are perhaps not idea for producers to release their films in theatres and many movies that were slated for release in April have decided to postpone their arrival on the silver screen.

We realise that much like us most of you have faced hardships over the last one tear and livelihood of lakes of people is at stake. In solidarity with you, we have decided to stick to our plan of releasing Flight on April 2 in as many cinemas as possible. It may be a small film but we promise that it is worthy of the big screen experience. We sincerely hope that with your support, our film will play a small role in the film industry's march towards normalcy.,'the makers said.

Directed by debutant director Suraj Joshi, Flight, a Crazy Boyz Entertainment production, features Mohit Chadda in the lead role with Pavan Malhotra, Zakir Hussain, Viveck Vaswani and Shibani Bedi in pivotal roles.

Makers of Flight to release their film as per schedule on April 2

Flight follows the journey of Ranveer Malhotra, who against all the odds, has to face deadly obstacles on a plane to survive.

The film is being distributed by Reliance Entertainment and UFO Moviez .

The decision of the makers of Flight to release their film as per schedule comes even as producers of mega starrers like Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2 and Chehre have deferred the release of their films due to the worsening covid situation in the country.

While makers of Haathi Mere Saathi had decided to defer release of its Hindi version last week, producers of Bunty Aur Babli2 earlier this week postponed its release.

Following suit, the makers of Amitabh Bachchan Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre today announced postponement of its release.

Eros international had last week postponed the release of the Hindi version of its much awaited film Haathi Mere Saathi.

The Hindi version of the Rana Daggubati starrer was scheduled for release on March 26.

The Tamil and Telugu versions of Haathi Mere Saathi were , however, released on the scheduled date of March 26.

Infact the worsening covid situation in the country has put a question mark on release of mega starrers scheduled for release in cinemas next month. These include  Sooryavanshi, Satyamev Jayate 2 and the Salman Khan starrer Radhe.

Infact, , keeping in view the fresh surge in Covid cases in the country, the home ministry today issued fresh guidelines for the states, which will be in force till April 30.

It now remains to be seen whether the makers of the upcoming mega starrers stick to their release date or decide to postpone release of their films.
