Satyamev Jayate 2 postponed to a later date due to rise in COVID-19 cases

After postponement of release of Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2, Chehre and Sooryavanshi due to worsening of the Covid situation in the country, the makers of the John Abraham starrer Satyamev Jayate 2 have postponed the release of the film to a later date due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.
The film was scheduled to release in cinemas on May 12.
The makers issued a joint statement that the safety of the countrymen was more important than anything else and that the film will now release on a later date.
'In these unprecedented times, nothing matters more than the safety and health of our countrymen and patrons. Our film Satyamev Jayate 2 will now release on a later date. Till then, let's keep our masks on and do our best to keep our loved ones and ourselves out of harms way,'the makers said.

Satyamev Jayate 2 is the latest mega starrer whose release has been deferred due to the unprecedented surge in covid cases in the country.
In the past few weeks, makers of films like Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2, Chehre and Sooryavanshi had postponed the release of these film due to the worsening covid situation.
Makers of Haathi Mere Saathi deferred the release of the Hindi version of the film while the Telugu and Tamil versions were released on the scheduled date .
While Haathi Mere Saathi and Chehre were scheduled to release last month, Bunty Aur Babli2 and Sooryavanshi were scheduled for release this month.

The new release date of the film is yet to be announced by the makers and John. Directed by Milap Zavari and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Nikkhil Advani, Krishan Kumar, Madhu G. Bhojwani, and Monisha Advani, Satyamev Jayate 2 features John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar in lead roles.
The postponement of release of Satyamev Jayate 2 comes even as makers of the other Eid release, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai starring Salman Khan and Disha Patani have decided to stick to the release date and have opted for a simultaneous release of the film on May 13, 2021 in theatres and on various digital platforms.

The last few weeks have seen a sharp spurt in COVID-19 cases in many states in the country, including Maharashtra and Punjab.
The country recorded over 3 lakh cases of COVID during the last 24 hours,.
The present situation has adversely impacted the earnings of recently released Bollywood films Roohi, Mumbai Saga, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Saina.

With the situation remaining grim, it is only a matter of time before the makers of other mega starrers also postpone the release of the films.
Bollywood has several mega starrers lined up in the coming months, which would be severely impacted if the covid situation in the country continues to worsen.
