Second wave of COVID-19 engulfs celebrities from entertainment and politics in its grip

While the surge in number of political celebrities testing covid positive has been attributed to a large number of political meetings and election rallies being addressed by them, an increasing number of tinsel town celebrities testing covid positive is attributed to their participation in shooting for films, web series and television shows, which usually witness presence of a large number of people comprising the crew of the film.

Infact, a large number of crew members of the film Ram Setu were reported to have tested COVID-19 positive after actor Akshay Kumar was found Covid positive.

Infact, following a surge in covid cases in the country,  Congress MP Rahul Gandhi recently announced that he will not be addressing any election rallies for the elections of the state assemblies . The BJP also announced that owing to surge in covid cases, party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi,  will be addressing only small public meetings rather than huge political rallies.

Also, following imposition of a lockdown in Maharashtra,  shooting for films,  web series and television shows in the state has been banned.

The celebrities from tinsel town and the world of politics developing the virus infection comes amid an unprecedented surge in covid cases in the country in recent weeks.

The country has been witnessing over two lakh cases per day for the last five days.

The unprecedented surge in covid cases has resulted in various state governments imposing fresh restrictions, including weekend curfews and night curfew with Maharashtra government imposing a complete lockdown in the state till April 30 and the Delhi government enforcing a lockdown till April 25.

In addition, the worsening covid situation has resulted in many states ordering closure of cinema halls, gyms and dining in restaurants to prevent the spread of the virus.

The worsening covid situation in the country, especially in Maharashtra, has adversely impacted the earnings of Bollywood films Roohi, Mumbai Saga, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Saina, Koi Jaane Na and Flight.

It has also led makers of mega starrers Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2, Chehre and Sooryavanshi to postpone release of their films due to the worsening covid situation.

It has also put a question mark on release of mega starrers scheduled for release in cinemas in next few weeks like Satyamev Jayate 2 , Radhe and 83
