Following the continuing surge in covid cases in Maharashtra, the state government today imposed new restrictions till April 30, including closure of Malls, theatres, restaurants and bars and a strict weekend lockdown.
Among the businesses that will be adversely impacted by the fresh restrictions is the film business, that has already been suffering from poor footfalls over the past two weeks due to the worsening covid situation in many states in the country, including Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra government decision to order closure of cinema halls puts a question mark on release of mega starrers like Sooryavanshi, Satyamev Jayate 2 and Radhe. While Sooryavanshi is scheduled for release on April 30, Satyamev Jayate 2 is scheduled for release on May 13 While Radhe is set to release on May 14.

The last few weeks have seen a sharp spurt in COVID-19 cases in many states in the country, including Maharashtra and Punjab.
The country recorded over 93000 cases of COVID during the last 24 hours, of which 49000 cases were recorded in Maharashtra alone.
Bollywood has several mega starrers lined up in the coming months, which would be severely impacted if the covid situation in the country continues to worsen.
