Reports of I Day release of Sooryavanshi,Bell Bottom speculative,announcement of release at right time: Akshay Kumar

Terming as speculative reports of release of Sooryavanshi and Bell Bottom on Independence Day, superstar Akshay Kumar has said that announcement of release date of film will be made at the right time.

In a statement,  Akshay Kumar said that  at this juncture it was highly speculative to say that both films will release on Independence Day.

He said that the producers of the two films were working out the release date of the films and an announcement in this regard would be made at the right time.

'I’m humbled at the excitement and eagerness of my fans regarding the release of Sooryavanshi and Bell Bottom, and want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for all their love.

However, at this point, it is purely speculative to say that both films will release on Independence Day. The producers of both films are working out the release dates and will make announcements at the right time,'Akshay Kumar said.

The clarification by the superstar comes amid reports that the producers of Sooryavanshi are looking at an Independence Day release for the film in theatres if normalcy is restored by that time.

At the same time, it has been reported that the producers of Bell Bottom   which stars Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor in lead roles , have reached a deal with Amazon Prime video for the release of the film on the streaming platform on August 13.

Directed by Rohit Shetty,  Sooryavanshi features Akshay Kumar and Katrina in lead roleswith Ranveer Singh playing a key role in the film.
The film had earlier been scheduled for a theatrical release on April 30 but the makers postponed it due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Trade sources say that the makers are looking to release the film in theatres in August provided the situation caused by the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic normalizes by that time.

The other Akshay Kumar film Bell Bottom, that stars Akshay Kumar with Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta , has been produced by Jackky Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment in association with Nikkhil Advani of Emmay Entertainment.

Reports say that the makers of Bell Bottom have been in talks with various OTT platforms for release of the film on a digital platform and have reached a deal with Amazon Prime video for release of the film on August 13.

Makers of Bell Bottom and Sooryavanshi are,  however,  yet to make any official announcement regarding the release of the film.

An unprecedented surge in covid cases in the country in recent weeks has resulted in makers of mega starrers Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2, Chehre, Sooryavanshi , Satyamev Jayate 2 and Toofan postponing release of these films till a later date.

The present situation has adversely impacted the earnings of recently released Bollywood films Roohi, Mumbai Saga, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Saina.

With the situation remaining grim, it is only a matter of time before the makers of other mega starrers also postpone the release of the films.

Bollywood has several mega starrers lined up in the coming months,  which would be severely impacted if the covid situation in the country continues to worsen.
