Bell Bottom to release in theatres worldwide July 27

Putting to rest speculation about an OTT release of his upcoming film Bell Bottom,  superstar Akshay Kumar today announced that the film will be releasing in theatres worldwide on July 27.

Taking to Twitter,  Akshay Kumar said, 'I know you have patiently waited for #Bellbottom! Couldn’t be happier to finally announce the release of our film. Arriving across big screens worldwide #BellBottomOn27July  .

One of the most awaited films this year, Bell Bottom has been directed by Ranjit M Tewari and produced by Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment.

 Bell Bottom stars Akshay Kumar in the lead with Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in other prominent roles.

The announcement of a theatrical release of the film next month comes amid speculation that the makers were planning to release it on OTT.

Pooja Entertainment,  the producers of the Akshay Kumar Vaani Kapoor Huma Qureshi starrer, had last month scorched speculation of an OTT release of the film.

The sharp spurt in COVID-19 cases in the country in recent weeks had led to postponement of release of mega starrers Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2,  Chehre, Sooryavanshi and Satyamev Jayate 2.

However,  with the Covid cases in the country taking a dip in the last one week, the Maharashtra government has expressed its willingness to allow reopening of theatres in the state at 50 per cent occupancy if the positivity rate goes below five percent.

Infact, the Maharashtra government has commenced a five level unlock process from June 7 under which it would allow resumption of various activities,  including reopening of theatres and resumption of shootings in the areas having a positivity of between 5 to ten percent .

With state government in Maharashtra expressing its willingness to allow reopening of cinema halls in the state with 50 per cent capacity as part of the five level unlock process announced by it from June 7, makers of another Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi are mulling  release of the film in cinemas on Independence day this year, sources in the film trade say.

Trade sources said that makers of Sooryavanshi,  whose release in cinemas had been earlier postponed severa times due to COVID-19 pandemic , are mulling to release the film on August 15 if  cinema halls in Maharashtra and other parts of the country are allowed to open to 50 per cent occupancy .

Trade sources said that Reliance Entertainment,  the makers of Sooryavanshi , are in talks with exhibitors across the country for reaching a deal for the release of the film in cinemas  on New terms.
