Producer & casting director,Seher Latif dies of Covid related complications, film industry mourns death

Casting Director Seher Aly Latif, known for her work in Lunchbox, Eat Pray Love, Monsoon Shootout, Tigers, Furious 7, Viceroy's House, McMafia, Sense 8, Shakuntala Devi, Durgamati and Bhaag Beanie Bhaag, died of Covid related complications.

Seher Latif died of cardiac arrest today, her close associate and director Neeraj Udhwani said.

Latif was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai eight days ago due to kidney failure.

Seher Latif was executive producer for Bhaag Bheanie Bhaag, featuring Swara Bhasker in the lead, Shakuntala Devi, featuring Vidya Balan in the lead and Gold, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead .

She was also the producer of the film Maska.

She was the Indian casting associate for  international projects like the Kathryn Bigelow feature directorial Zero Dark Thirty, Julia Roberts-starrer Eat Pray Love, the Netflix series Sense8, season four of the Showtime espionage thriller Homeland and the BBC One/AMC series McMafia.

Celebrities from the world of entertainment expressed their condolences on her death.

Among those who mourned her death were actors Nimrat Kaur, Dipannita sharma and Sophie chaudhry and producers Excel entertainment and Meghna Ghai puri.

Expressing her grief, Nimrat Kaur, who starred in The Lunchbox and Homeland, said,'"One of the kindest, most loving people Mumbai gifted my life with. Still trying to process this unreal news... Travel on into the light my dearest, sweetest Seher. The unpredictable, ghastly shortness of life remains baffling. Await to meet you on the other side,'

'We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Ms. Seher Latif. This is an irreplaceable loss for the Indian Film Industry. Our condolences are with her friends and family. May she rest in peace,'Excel entertainment said.

Condoling her death , actor Sophie chaudhry said, 'A force to be reckoned with in the world of casting , started producing and more than anything just a wonderful woman. Heaven is lucky to have you, Seher إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ #seherlatif .'

Producer Meghna Ghai puri also mourned the death of Seher Latif.

six years ago and she was kind, gracious and fun. Spoke to her just a few months ago and we’d made plans to meet. She leaves behind an amazing body of work and a legacy of kindness. RIP dear #SeherLatif ,'Meghan Ghai puri said

Celebrities from film industry express condolences on death of casting director Seher Aly Latif 

Seher Latif is the latest celebrity from the world of entertainment to have died of COVID-19 in the last few months.  In recent months,  music composer Shravan rathod,  actress Abhilasha Patil,  actor Bikramjeet Kanwarpal,  film editor Ajay Sharma, you Tuber Rahul Vohra ,, screenplay and dialogue writer Subodh Chopra and film producer Ryan Stephen have lost their lives due to Covid.
