State of Seige; temple attack:Akshay Khanna shines in gripping thriller with message of futility of war & conflict

An eye for an eye only makes this whole world go blind, goes a famous saying by Father of the Nation  Mahatma Gandhi.

The futility of war between neighbouring countries has been the subject of many films over the years from Haqeeqat, Border , Refugee and LOC;  Kargil

State of Seige Temple attack' is yet another film that seeks to emphasize the futility of war and conflict between two countries. It is perhaps not a mere coincidence that State of Siege; Temple attack is set in the backdrop of Gujarati,  the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi 

Based on the incident of the terrorist attack'on Akshardham temple in Gujarat wherein the terrorists took several people hostage, the film narrates the heroic tale of NSG commandos, who step in to rescue innocent people and neutralising the terrorists.

While celebrating the bravery of the NSG commando s, state of Seige Temple attack'also gives an subtle message about the futility of violence while underscoring the importance of non violence propounded by Mahatma Gandhi. 

Violence sets you back by several decades which is why there is a need to adhere to the path of non violence, says a seer of the  temple at the end of the film, seeking to underline the message of non violence propounded by Mahatma Gandhi. 

State of Seige; Temple Attack is a gripping thriller with underlying message of futility of war and violence 



A group of terrorists from across the border strike at the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar in Gujarat and hold innocent people hostage. Major Hanut Singh(Akshaya khanna) and Major Samar (Gautam Rode) along with their team are tasked with the job of rescuing the hostages from the terrorists. The film takes viewers through the efforts by the NSG commandos to rescue the hostages and neutralising the terrorists.

The screenplay moves at a fast pace keeping you hooked throughout . the length of the film.: The film, through its dialogues and gestures of thee characters,  also manages to bring across the feeling of patriotism and sense of duty among the NSG commandos without resorting to jingoism. For example when Major Samar,  who is on leave due to the pregnancy of his wife, gets a call for duty from his headquarters after the terrorist attack on Akshardham temple, his wife promptly asks him to go.

The film also boasts of excellent cinematography with the visuals being quite  eye filling.

Akshay Khanna is the highlight of the film with a brilliant  performance as major Hanut Singh of the NSG. He is truly inspirational as the NSG commando who is ready to go beyond the line of duty to destroy enemies of the nation. Gautam rode gives an impressive performance as major Samar.

Vivek Dahiya, Akshay Oberoi and Manjari Fadnis are quite effective in their performances.

The rest of the cast lend able support.

In short State of Seige Temple attack is a gripping action thriller that puts across a  subtle message of eschewing violence and conflict for ensuring progress and development of civilization.

The film, based on events in the land of Mahatma Gandhi, also makes a strong pitch for Mahatma Gandhi's message of non violence.

My rating: 4/5- one for screenplay one for direction one for performance by Akshay khanna and one for cinematography.
