Tickle your funny bone with screening of Lions of Punjab at Bandra Film Festival this week

Bandra Film Festival will this week tickle the funny bone of viewers with the screening of the 2007 Shabana Azmi starrer Lions of Punjab.

A comic caper,  Lions of Punjab also stars Ajay Naidu, Ayesha Dharker and Kunal Roy Kapur .

Directed by the late Manish Acharya, Lions Of Punjab , set around an Indian Idol-inspired Hindi singing reality contest in New Jersey with seven strangers,  has garnered an iconic status over the years.

Lions of Punjab takes viewers through the journey of the contestants, who include a ruthless philanthropist, a bhangra rapper, a young prodigy with an overprotective family, a reckless actress, a lovelorn businessman, and an entrepreneurial yogi.  Lions of Punjab is all about backstage intrigues  as the competitors battle on stage and behind-the-scenes.

Talking about the film, Andrea Manath, Programmer at Bandra Film Festival, said, “We are really excited to curate the classic comic caper Loins of Punjab at the Bandra Film Festival. It is a 2007 release but this film feels fresh even today. Over the past few months we have been receiving amazing viewership for all our films and we are sure this one will have some nostalgic resonance as well."

A digital film festival presented by Filmkaravan in collaboration with YouTube , the  Bandra Film Festival has so far showcased feature films, documentaries and shorts. From Aamir Khan's Raakh to Ranbir Kapoor's Karma, BFF has been entertaining the audience with its unique lineups.

BFF, a digital film festival which started in March 2021 has a slate of 50+ films from filmmakers all across the country and cutting across multiple genres, languages and formats.
