Dino Morea the surprise package of period drama The Empire ?

The focus in the trailer and promos of the period drama The Empire may be on Kunal Kapoor as Mughal emperor Babar but another actor who has captured attention is Dono Morea for his portrayal of Uzbek leader Sheybani Khan , the man who posed a tough challenge to Babar during his journey to lay foundation of the Mughal empire in India.

The Empire,  which will take viewers through the journey of Babar as he goes about laying the foundation stone of the Mughal empire in India,  features Sheybani Khan as a key character.

During the beginning of the 16th century,  when Babar, leader of the Timurid dynasty, was taking his initial steps towards establishing the Mughal empire in India,  he was posed a tough challenge by Uzbek leader Sheybani Khan.

Shaybani ousted the Timurids from their capital Samarkand by 1500. He fought successful campaigns against the  Babur,  In 1505 he recaptured Samarkand and in 1507 also took Herat, the southern capital of the Timurids. 




Dono Morea plays a key role in period drama The Empire 




Talking about his character in the period drama,  Dino Morea said, 'Sheybani Khan is a beautiful character. He is daring,  brutal and savage. .

Dino Morea said that he had never played such a character ever before.

'Sheybani Khan  is everything I have never done or played in a character before.
He believes that the throne as should  be earned not inherited which is why he  goes against the rulers,Dino Morea said.

On choosing Dino Morea for the role,  director Mitakshara Kumar said, 'I wanted an actor with a face that has the madness of the character of Sheybani Khan. There is something about Dino that makes him believable as Sheybani Khan.'

Kunal Kapoor,  who assays the lead role of Babar in the period drama,  is full of praise for Dino Morea for his performance as Sheybani Khan in the show.

'Sheybani Khan was actually my favourite character in the period drama. Dino worked really hard to play the character. I think he is going to be the surprise package of the show,'Kunal said.

The epic period-action drama, created by filmmaker-producer Nikkhil Advani,  follows the journey of Mughal king Babar as he goes about his endeaour to consolidate the Mughal empire in India.

Directed by Mitakshara Kumar, The Empire, based on Alex Rutherford's Empire of the Moghuls: Raiders from the North, traces the origins of the Mughal Dynasty with Kunal Kapoor featuring as Mughal emperor Babar, who laid the foundation of the dynasty.

The Empire features  Kunal Kapoor in the lead with Shabana Azmi,  Drishti Dhami and Dino Morea in key roles, 

The Empire promises to be  one of the grandest period drama on the digital screen.

The trailer of the period drama,  released by Disney Hotstar earlier this month, treats viewers to a visual spectacle. 

The Empire premieres on Disney Hotstar on August 27.
