The stigma associated with menstruation in girls, a common phenomenon in many states in the country,  is sought to be highlighted in a new short film Masoom Sawaal, which will be released in cinemas on August 5.

Makers of the film,  helmed by director Santosh Upadhyay,  have now released its title track Niyati Ye Kaisi.

Talking about the song, the director of  the  film Santosh Upadhyay said,"this song is a question that Niyati (main lead) is asking to God, to Lord Krishna as to  why we women have got this pain? Why do we have to bear this pain during menstruation? Men's dont have to face such things or worry but we women bear this pain!"

It is a meeting with an eighth class girl ,who recounted problems faced by her during menstruation, that led Upadhyay to make this film.

"In 2014, a girl who was in class 8 came to me and expressed her desire to talk to me in private, away from her parents. Then she asked me, 'Sir! Why do girls get periods?' To be honest, I had no answer for that innocent person. So I asked why was she asking like this.

Even today in a metro city like Delhi, a 14-year-old girl is crying about such a normal thing. It is a misfortune of the country that there is growing stigma around menstruation. Inspired by the story of the girl, I gathered the courage to create this film. Thereafter, I wrote this film about the story she recounted about her house. Somewhere a spark burnt and I got started with it,'the filmmaker said.

The trailer for the movie which stars actors Nitanshi Goyal, Ekavali Khanna, Shishir Sharma, Madhu Sachdeva, and Rohit Tiwari was recently released by the makers.

The film also stars Brinda Trivedi, Ramji Bali, Shashie Vermaa, and other actors.

The filmmakers said that the title track 'Niyati ye Kaisi' has been well received by audiences.

The movie has been produced by Ranjana Upadhyay of Nakshatra 27 Productions.
