Doctor G earns Rs 8.5 cr in two days

Quirky medical comedy Doctor G, which follows life of a person who aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon but ends up becoming a Gynaec, has taken an encouraging start at the box office in India,  earning Rs 8.5 cr in its first two days.

After earning Rs 3.6 cr on its opening day in India, Doctor G, which stars Ayushmann Khurana in the lead role, saw a sharp jump in its collections on the second day on Saturday to Rs 5 cr.

The film has now earned Rs 8.5 cr in its first two days.

Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, Doctor G follows the struggle of a doctor who is interested in orthopaedics but instead ends up becoming a male gynaecologist, thus leading to chaos.

Produced by Junglee pictures, Doctor G stars Ayushmann Khurana, Rakul Preet Singh and  Shefali Shah in key roles.

The film, which has opened to mixed reviews, took a good opening of Rs 3.6 cr despite a low pressure release hype.  It showed a sharp jump in its earnings on Saturday to Rs 5 cr, taking its two day earnings to Rs 8.6 cr.

The film has opened to positive reviews with critics praising the performance by Ayushmann Khurana.

Ayushmann Khurana was last seen in Anubhav Sinha's political thriller Anek.
