As PADOSAN, a classic comedy of the Golden Era of Indian cinema,  gets ready for re release in theatres in the country, yesteryears Bollywood actress Saira Banu goes down memory lane to revisit her memories associated with the film. 


In a post on Instagram,  Saira Banu,  who played the female lead in the iconic film, said that PADOSAN is a film extremely close to her heart.

'I was thrilled to hear that PADOSAN,  a film which is extremely close to my heart,  is being re released in theatres. The film is not only dearest to me but a cherished piece of cinematic history that I believe the new generation should experience, 'Saira Banu said going down memory lane. 


'It is a brilliant showcase of exceptional artists brought to life by Dutt Sahab,  Mahmood Bhai, Kishore Kumar and many more, 'the yesteryear actress said. 


Saira Banu said that she was blessed to have been a part of the classic film. 


'Reflecting on PADOSAN  I feel blessed for the opportunity to have been a part of it especially given the circumstances at that time. After my marriage, I had taken a step back from my professional career, and it was only thanks to Mahmood Bhai's persistent persuasion and considerate arrangements made to facilitate the shooting in Madras that I agreed to join the project, ''Saira Banu said. 


Terming her experience of working in PADOSAN as 'truly  memorable', Saira Banu said, ''the film's cast,  including the memorable Dutt's Saheb,who humorously questioned the departure from his usual glamorous roles, and the amazing Kishore ji, made the experience truly memorable. 


The on set laughter and camaraderie were so intense that we had to pause filming because I couldn't stop laughing. '' 


'It is heartening to see PADOSAN being celebrated again.  The film remains a highlight of my career and a joyous part of cinematic legacy, 'Saira Banu said. 


Re,eased in 1968, PADOSAN is a classic musical comedy directed by Jyoti Swaroop and produced by Mehmood and N C. Sippy . 


A  remake of the Bengali-language film Pasher Bari (1952) based on a short story of the same name by Arun Chowdhury, PADOSAN starred Sunil Dutt and Saira Banu in lead roles with Kishore Kumar, Mukri, Raj Kishore and Keshto Mukherjee featuring in supporting roles. 


The film is etched in the memory of cinelovers as among the best classical comedies in the history of Hindi films.
