Film Editor Ajay Sharma dies of Covid

Film editor Ajay Sharma,  who was associated with films like Karwaan,, Ludo, Jagga Jasoos and web series Bandish Bandits , has died of Covid,  becoming the latest from the world of entertainment to succum to the virus infection.

Ajay Sharma passed away early this morning at a hospital in Delhi.

He was 33 and is survived by his wife and a four year old son.

Ajay Sharma,  who was diagnosed with COVID-19,  was in the ICU of the Rajeev Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi for the last two weeks.

He died in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Ajay Sharma, who was also working as an editor in the Tapsee Pannu starter Rashmi Rocket,  has earlier worked as an asseditor for films like Barfi, Life in a Metro, Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani and Agneepath.

The film industry mourned the death of the film editor.

Among those who expressed their condolences were actress Shriya Pilgaonkar,  film editor T S Suresh and director Akarsh Khurana.

Condoling the death of Ajay Sharma  actress Shriya Pilgaonkar said, 'devastated is an understatement. We lost Ajay Sharma today. Not just an incredibly fine editor but an absolute gem of a human being. Nothing makes sense ."

Expressing his condolences,  Film editor T S Suresh said, "Life is so unfair. Rest in Peace, Ajay Sharma, a great talent gone too soon. My heartfelt condolences to his family & friends during this difficult time ."

In his condolence, Director Akarsh Khurana, who collaborated with Sharma on 'Rashmi Rocket' and 'Karwaan', said, '"Best guy. This is a huge blow.''

Ajay Sharma,  who made his directorial debut with the short film 'Jolly 1995', was working as a film editor in the film Rashmi Rocket,  which stars Tapsee Pannu in the lead role.

Ajay Sharma is the latest celebrity from the field of entertainment to died from COVID-19.

Last week,  film and television actor Bikramjeet Kanwarpal died from Covid.

Earlier this year,  music composer Shravan had died of the virus infection.  Last year, music composer had died from the coronavirus infection.

The last few weeks have witnessed an unprecedented surge in covid cases in the country.

Over 3 lakh cases have been recorded in the country in the last 12 days .

Several celebrities from the world of entertainment and politics have in recent weeks been infected with the coronavirus infection.

These include former Congress president Rahul Gandhi,  former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,  Kerala chief minister Pinari Vijayan,  Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa   , actors Aamir khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia bhatt, Sanjay Leela Bhansali,  Satish Kaushik  Akshay Kumar,  television Actor Hina Khan,  Rupali Ganguly and Aditya Narayan.

The worsening covid situation in the country, especially in Maharashtra, has adversely impacted the earnings of Bollywood films Roohi, Mumbai Saga, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Saina, Koi Jaane Na and Flight.

It has also led makers of mega starrers Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2, Chehre , Sooryavanshi , Satyamev Jayate 2 and Toofan to postpone release of their films due to the worsening covid situation.

It has also put a question mark on release of mega starrers scheduled for release in cinemas in next few months.
