Trailer of Mimi promises quirky & emotional tale of a fiesty girl's journey to becoming a surrogate mother

It's teaser and promos have generated tremendous buzz among cinelovers over the past week. 

After evoking curiosity of the viewers with the promos of Mimi, a hilarious comedy about a feisty and middle class girl's journey of becoming a surrogate mother, the makers of the film today released the trailer of the film 

The trailer takes viewers through the quirky tale of a feisty and carefree girl (Kriti Sanon) who becomes a surrogate mom to make a quick buck. However, all hell breaks loose when her plan tumbles at the last second. 

It gives viewers a peek into the journey of Kriti Sanon as a surrogate mother. 

The trailer of the film,  which features Kriti Sanon,  Pankaj Tripathi,  Manoj Pahwa and Supriya Pathak in pivotal roles, promises a story that is a heartening blend of comedy and compassion. 

Pankaj Tripathi,  who has earlier impressed with his portrayals in Mirzapur and Kaagaz, seems to be in top form in Mimi.

Speaking after unveiling the trailer,  producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films said, '

this trailer is filled with warmth, cheer and laughter, just like the film. Mimi is our first exclusive OTT release, and while a family outing at the cinemas could take some time, with Mimi, we are bringing wholesome cinema to families in the comfort of their homes. We hope Kriti’s lovable and humorous avatar brings joy to as many viewers as possible”. 

“Finding two incredible digital collaborators in Jio Cinema and Netflix is very exciting”, he added. 

Describing Mimi as a film  made for providing wholesome entertainment to the whole family, the producers said, 'It’s been ages since Bollywood has seen a solid family entertainer, a movie that serves as the perfect excuse for loved ones to gather along, chuckle about and have a gala time. Mimi's trailer  provides  a delightful curtain raiser to the funniest family flick of the year.' 

The trailer boasts of some crackling comic chemistry between Pankaj and Kriti, some of their witty lines leaving you in rip roaring splits. It also gives us an interesting glimpse at the plot - the quirky tale of a feisty and carefree girl who becomes a surrogate mom to make a quick buck. 

The trailer is peppered with a spicy soundtrack and a few touching moments, promising to viewers a film that is sure to take them on a roller coaster ride of emotions. 

A joint production by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, Mimi has been directed by Laxman Utekar, and written by Rohan Shankar. 

 Loosely based on the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy, Mimi stars Kriti Sanon as a surrogate mother whose life charges when she agrees to become a surrogate mother. 

The film was supposed to  release theatrically in mid-2020. 

 However, post-production delays due to COVID-19 pandemic caused several postponements in its release date. 

With the continuing uncertainty on reopening of theatres,  the makers have now decided to release the film on OTT. 

Makers of the film Maddock films last week unveiled a quirky first look of the film. 

The first look of the film featured Kriti Sanon in a cutely confused expression with a wacky tagline, whetting the curiosity of film lovers about the film.
