Doctor G earns Rs 19 cr in opening week

Quirky comedy film Doctor G has earned Rs 19 cr in its opening week in India.

After an encouraging start at the box office, wherein the film took an average opening weekend of Rs 14 cr in India, Doctor G saw a drop in collections during the week days.

It has earned approximately Rs 19 cr in its opening week.

 Doctor G, which follows life of a person who aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon but ends up becoming a Gynaec, took an encouraging start at the box office in India,  earning Rs 14 cr in its opening weekend.

After earning Rs 3.6 cr on its opening day in India, Doctor G, which stars Ayushmann Khurana in the lead role, saw a sharp jump in its collections on the second day on Saturday to Rs 5 cr. And Rs 5.6 cr on Saturday

Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, Doctor G follows the struggle of a doctor who is interested in orthopaedics but instead ends up becoming a male gynaecologist, thus leading to chaos.

Produced by Junglee pictures, Doctor G stars Ayushmann Khurana, Rakul Preet Singh and  Shefali Shah in key roles.

The film, which has opened to mixed reviews, took a good opening of Rs 3.6 cr despite a low pressure release hype.  It showed a sharp jump in its earnings on Saturday to Rs 5 cr, taking its two day earnings to Rs 8.6 cr.

The film has opened to positive reviews with critics praising the performance by Ayushmann Khurana.

Ayushmann Khurana was last seen in Anubhav Sinha's political thriller Anek and the love story  Chandigarh kare Aashiqui.
