Pathan set to cross Rs 100 cr on its second day on Thursday

It is the highest opening taken by a Hindi film in India till now.

Riding on the Shahrukh Khan magic, the Yash Raj Films banner, the presence of Deepika Padukone and John Abraham and breathtaking action,  Pathan, which released on 8000 cinema screens worldwide on January 25,  including in over 5000 screens in India, earned Rs 55 cr on its opening day, bringing  cheer to the film trade.

With collections of over Rs 100 cr on its first  two days,  the film has broken the record created by Films like KGF2, Baahubali The Conclusion and War.

The film has done excellent business in North India, including Delhi,  Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, MumbaiandSouthIndia. .

Given the huge crowds thronging to the theatres to watch the movie,  it could well cross the milestone of Rs 200 cr in its opening weekend.

The stupendous opening taken by Pathan has brought cheer in the film industry,  which has been witnessing a poor response to Films released in cinemas over the last few months.

Barring Brahmastra, Bhool Bhulaiya2, Drishyam2 and The Kashmir Files,  most films released in cinemas in recent months have failed to enthuse audiences.

Past few months have witnessed big budget Bollywood films like Prithviraj,  Shamshera,  Heropanti2, Jersey, Attack, Runway 24 and Lal Singh Chaddha meet with a lukewarm response at the box office contrary to the high expectations from them.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathan brings together Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham on the big screen .

Released on January 25 in Hindi,  Tamil and Telugu versions, Pathan,  produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, is the fourth film in the Yashraj spy universe series,  after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai and War.

One of the costliest film by Yashraj Films in terms of its budget,  Pathan, released  in  standard  and  IMAX  versions,  is among the most anticipated films of 2023.

Pathan also features Salman Khan in a cameo.

Shooting for the film was held in Mumbai,  Dubai and Spain.
