The lacklustre show by Kuttey continues the poor run by Bollywood films post the super success of psychological thriller Drishyam2, including the horror comedies Bhediya and Phone Bhoot, the action drama An action Hero, the Kajol starrer Salaam Venky, the horror film Maarrich and the Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus
Infact, barring The Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiya2, Brahmastra Part one and Drishyam2, most Hindi films released post the pandemic have failed to enthuse audiences.
A crime thriller, Kuttey marks the directorial debut by Aasmaan Bhardwaj, the son of filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, known for critically acclaimed films like Maqbool, Haider, 7 Khoon Maaf and Makdi.
Produced by Vishal Bhardwaj Films, T-Series Films and Luv Films, Kuttey features an ensemble cast of Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Radhika Madan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bhardwaj.
Kuttey is the story of three rival gangs who unknowingly cross paths while on hunt for a van carrying crores of cash.
Released in cinemas on January 13, Kuttey received mixed to positive reviews from critics for its background score, performances and screenplay.
Aasmaan had completed his bachelors in filmmaking at the School Of Visual Arts, NYC and has assisted Vishal Bhardwaj on 7 Khoon Maaf, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Pataakha.
