Patriotic dramas Shershah,Bhuj The Pride of India & POW stream on OTT on Independence day weekend

Patriotic action dramas that aim to infuse the spirit of patriotism are set to entertain cinelovers on various OTT platforms during the Independence Day weekend.

Premiering on different digital platforms on the Independence day weekend are ShershahBhuj The Pride of India and POW Bandi Yuddh Ke, films which are sure to arouse a patriotic fervor among viewers with tales of Bravehearts who served as inspiration for millions of Indians with their valour and acts of bravery.

Scheduled for premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 12 is Shershah,  a film based on life of Kargil martyr and Paramvir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra.

A collaboration between Dharma Productions of Karan Johar and Amazon Prime Video, Shershah will take viewers through the act of bravery by Vikram Batra during the Kargil War.

Shershah features Bollywood heartthrob Siddharth Malhotra in the lead role along with Kiara Advani.

The film  has evoked tremendous buzz among cinelovers.with it's promos and trailer.

Siddharth Malhotra has  said that he is excited over the release of Shershah.

'No one will understand how much emotional I am right now. . I am very proud of Vikram Batra.  I was waiting for this movie from past few years finally! It's here,'Siddharth Malhotra said.

Shershah  is among the several films that have opted for a direct OTT release due to continued uncertainty on reopening of theatres across the country due to prevalence of second wave of COVID-19 and looming threat of the third wave.

Another patriotic action dramas that will premiere on OTT during the Independence Day weekend is Bhuj The Pride of India,  a story of a brave IAF officer who  reconstructed  the Bhuj airbase with the help of 300 local women after the Pakistani Air Force had destroyed the base during the 1971 war .

During the 1971 Indo‑Pak war, the IAF airstrip and the airbase at Bhuj were destroyed  by the  Pakistani Air Force. Subsequently, 300 local women led by IAF squadron leader Vijay Karnik heroically toiled day in and day out to reconstruct the airbase. This act of resilience was a pivotal moment which not only boosted the morale of the country, but also helped us win the war.

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj The Pride of India  features Ajay Devgn as IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk and debutante Pranitha Subhash and Ihana Dhillon.

The film, which has been produced by Bhushan Kumar of T series along with Kumar Mangat Pathak, was earlier slated for theatrical release  on  August 13  during the Independence Day weekend, but the  continuing uncertainty on reopening of theatres in the country due to continuing threat of second wave of COVID-19 led the makers to announce the release of the film on Disney Hotstar on August 13.

Trailer of Bhuj The Pride of India, promises an inspirational tale of valor and sacrifice of the brave Indian soldiers and civilians during the 1971 war with Pakistan.

The trailer gives viewers a peek into the heroic spirit of IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik who toiled day in and day out to reconstruct the airbase at Bhuj after the IAF airstrip and airbase was destroyed in combat with the Pakistani forces during the 1971 war.

The Independence Day weekend will also witness the streaming of The popular 2017 political drama POW Bandi Yuddh Ke on Mx player streaming platform.

P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke , story of two Indian soldiers  captured and taken prisoners in Pakistan, released  after 17 years of negotiations, streams on Mx player from August 13.

In 1999, three Indian soldiers were captured and taken prisoners in Pakistan. But after 17 years of negotiations, Squadron Leader Imaan Khan and Officer Sartaj Singh, two among the three soldiers are rescued and they are united with their families in 2016. However, the third soldier comes back in a coffin.

Imaan and Sartaj must strive to continue where they left off and adapt to an ordinary life despite the psychological and physical trauma due to imprisonment and years of torture. But inaccuracies in their accounts arise and a government agent launches a covert investigation to learn the truth about their return after 17 years.

Directed by Nikkhil Advani, P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke,which aired on Star Plus from 2016 to 2017, won a  lot of appreciation from viewers while getting critical acclaim.  The series is now all set to stream on an OTT platform after nearly four years.

P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke  features Satyadeep Mishra, Purab Kohli, Sandhya Mridul, Amrita Puri, Tisca Chopra and Manish Chaudhari.
