Political thrillers,romantic dramas,patriotic action sagas, coming of age films entertain on OTT next week

With stay at home becoming the new normal and the OTT becoming the new destination for entertainment lovers amid the continuing threat of Covid-19, a diverse range of shows and films are set to entertain viewers on various digital platforms next week.
Scheduled to stream on OTT next week are Political thrillers Kuruthi, and POW, romantic dramas Kissing Booth and Modern love, coming of age youth drama Shantit Kranti and patriotic action dramas Shershah and Bhuj The Pride of India.
While Malayalam Political thriller Kuruthi premieres on Amazon Prime on August 11, .Political drama POW will stream on Mx player on August 13.
Season 3 of the Romantic comedy Kissing Booth will premiere on Netflix on August 11 while season 2 of ghe romance anthology Modern love will premiere on Amazon Prime on August 13. Coming of age Marathi youth drama Shantit Kranti premieres on Sony Liv on August 13 while patriotic action drama Shershah premieres on Amazon Prime Video on August 12 and Bhuj The Pride of India premieres on Disney Hotstar on August 13.
Kuruthi on Amazon Prime Video
Scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 11 is the much awaited Malayalam Political thriller Kuruthi, a film about how enduring human relations that transcends boundaries struggle to survive trials of hatred and prejudice.
Directed by Manu Warrier, written by Anish Pallyal, and produced by Supriya Menon through the company Prithviraj Productions, Kuruthi is the story of Ibrahim, a rubber tapping labourer who lives in the lonely mountain ranges and is trying to leave behind memories of a traumatic monsoon landslide. On a fateful night, an injured cop barges into his house with a prisoner and seeks refuge. When a powerful enemy burning with vengeance follows them into his house, Ibrahim is forced to confront testing questions about his own beliefs and convictions.

Kuruthi stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role and features Murali Gopy, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko and Srindaa in supporting roles.
Prithviraj and his wife Supriya Menon decided to produce the film under their banner Prithviraj Productions.
Kuruthi was scheduled to be released in theatres on May 13 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, it's makers announced that the will release on Amazon Prime Video on August 11.
Kuruthi marks director Manu Warrier's debut in Malayalam cinema.

Kissing booth 3 on Netflix
August 11 will also witness the release of Season 3 of American teen romantic comedy Kissing Booth on Netflix.
Directed by Vince Marcello, from a screenplay by Marcello and Jay Arnold, Kissing Booth 3 is a sequel to The Kissing Booth and The Kissing Booth 2,. It is the third and final installment of The Kissing Booth film series.
Based on The Kissing Booth books by Beth Reekles, Kissing Booth 3 stars Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Meganne Young and Molly Ringwald.
King, Elordi, Courtney, Perez, Richardson-Sellers and Young will be reprising their roles from the previous seasons. Marcello again directs from a screenplay he wrote alongside Jay Arnold.

Shershah on Amazon Prime
Next week will also witness the release of patriotic action dramas Shershah and Bhuj The Pride of India on OTT amid continuing uncertainty on reopening of theatres.
Scheduled for premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 12 is Shershah, a film based on life of Kargil martyr and Paramvir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra.
A collaboration between Dharma Productions of Karan Johar and Amazon Prime Video, Shershah features Bollywood heartthrob Siddharth Malhotra in the lead role along with Kiara Advani.

The film has evoked tremendous buzz among cinelovers.with it's promos and trailer.
Ahead of the premiere of Shershah, the makers unveiled the trailer of the film.
The trailer takes viewers through the valour and indomitable courage displayed by Captain Vikram Batra during the Kargil War.

Siddharth Malhotra has said that he is excited over the release of Shershah.

Shershah is yet another film, after Hungama 2, Bhoot Police and Bhuj The Pride of India to opt for a direct OTT release due to continued uncertainty on reopening of theatres across the country due to prevalence of second wave of COVID-19 and looming threat of the third wave.

Another patriotic action dramas that will premiere on OTT next week is Bhuj The Pride of India, a story of a brave IAF officer who reconstructed the Bhuj airbase with the help of 300 local women after the Pakistani Air Force had destroyed the base during the 1971 war .
During the 1971 Indo‑Pak war, the IAF airstrip and the airbase at Bhuj were destroyed by the Pakistani Air Force. Subsequently, 300 local women led by IAF squadron leader Vijay Karnik heroically toiled day in and day out to reconstruct the airbase. This act of resilience was a pivotal moment which not only boosted the morale of the country, but also helped us win the war.
Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj The Pride of India features Ajay Devgn as IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk and debutante Pranitha Subhash and Ihana Dhillon.

The film, which has been produced by Bhushan Kumar of T series along with Kumar Mangat Pathak, was earlier slated for theatrical release on August 13 during the Independence Day weekend, but the continuing uncertainty on reopening of theatres in the country due to continuing threat of second wave of COVID-19 led the makers to announce the release of the film on Disney Hotstar on August 13.
Trailer of Bhuj The Pride of India, promises an inspirational tale of valor and sacrifice of the brave Indian soldiers and civilians during the 1971 war with Pakistan.
The trailer gives viewers a peek into the heroic spirit of IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik who toiled day in and day out to reconstruct the airbase at Bhuj after the IAF airstrip and airbase was destroyed in combat with the Pakistani forces during the 1971 war.

After enthralling television viewers, the television series P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke , story of two Indian soldiers captured in Pakistan released after 17 years of negotiations, streams on Mx player from August 13
Directed by Nikkhil Advani, P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke,which aired on Star Plus from 2016 to 2017, is all set to stream on an OTT platform after nearly four years.
P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke features Satyadeep Mishra, Purab Kohli, Sandhya Mridul, Amrita Puri, Tisca Chopra and Manish Chaudhari.

- In 1999, three Indian soldiers were captured and taken prisoners in Pakistan. But after 17 years of negotiations, Squadron Leader Imaan Khan and Officer Sartaj Singh, two among the three soldiers are rescued and they are united with their families in 2016. However, the third soldier comes back in a coffin.
Imaan and Sartaj must strive to continue where they left off and adapt to an ordinary life despite the psychological and physical trauma due to imprisonment and years of torture. But inaccuracies in their accounts arise and a government agent launches a covert investigation to learn the truth about their return after 17 years.

The new season of the anthology series, inspired by The New York Times column of the same name, consists of eight half-hour episodes, all of which will be released together on the same day.
The cast of the second season includes Kit Harington, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Susan Blackwell, Lucy Boynton, Tom Burke, Zoe Chao, Maria Dizzia, Minnie Driver, Kathryn Gallagher, Nikki M. James, Aparna Nancherla, Anna Paquin, Isaac Powell, Jack Reynor, among others.
This anthology series explores love in all of its complicated and beautiful forms. Each episode brings to life a different story that has been inspired by the New York Times' popular Modern Love column= A collection of stories about relationships, connections, betrayals and revelations.
John Carney is the writer, director and executive producer of Modern Love. John Crowley (Brooklyn), Marta Cunningham (Insecure) Jesse Peretz (Glow), and Andrew Rannells (Black Monday) will also direct episodes of the anthology series with Celine Held and Logan George (Topside) co-directing an episode.
The series is produced by Amazon Studios, Storied Media Group, Likely Story, and The New York Times.
The season was filmed in Albany, New York City, Schenectady, and Troy, New York and Dublin, Ireland.
