Crime dramas, thrillers to entertain on OTT in February

After action thrillers Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke, crime drama series Trial By Fire and espionage thriller Mission Majnu entertained audiences on OTT in January,  a host of crime dramas and thrillers await viewers in the month of February.

The month of February will witness crime drama Jehanabad -Of Love and War, crime thriller Farzi and Crime thriller The Night Manager entertain audiences on various OTT platforms.

Jehanabad - of Love and War on Sony Liv

Continuing the trend of OTT platforms airing real life crime dramas rooted in the Indian heartland,  Sony Liv will in February stream Jehanabad- Of Love and War,  a crime drama based on a real life incident where Naxalites broke open a jail in Jehanabad, resulting in 600 prisoners fleeing the jail.

Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Sudhir Mishra and produced by Studio NEXT,  Jehanabad-Of Love and War, to be  streamed on  Sony Liv from February 3, has been directed by Rajeev Barnwal and Satyanshu Singh.

Inspired by real life incidents in Jehanabad in 2005, the story of Jehanabad-Of Love and War follows the events of the small town in Bihar  where innocent love and anarchy of the land are heading towards a collision.

On November 13, 2005, Naxalites attacked a jail in the village of Jehanabad, freeing 372 persons accused of serious crimes.

The incident had repercussions across the country.

Jehanabad-Of Love and War stars Ritwik Bhowmik ,Parambrata Chatterjee ,Harshita Gaur ,Rajat Kapoor ,Satyadeep Mishra ,Suneel Sinha and Sonal Jha in pivotal roles.

Farzi on Amazon Prime Video

The month of February will also witness Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor make his OTT debut with the crime thriller Farzi.

Directed by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, Farzi will see Shahid Kapoor and South Indian superstar Vijay Sethupathi make their OTT debut.

Farzi, which will stream on Amazon Prime Video from February 10, also stars Kay Kay Menon, Raashi Khanna , Kubbra Sait, Amol Palekar and Bhuvan Arora.

Farzi is the story of an artist , who gets pulled into the murky high stakes of a con job , and a fiery task force officer on the mission to rid the country of his menaces.

It is touted as a fast-paced, edgy one-of-a-kind thriller.

The Night Manager on Disney Hotstar

February will also witness Cinematic powerhouses Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor in an ultimate showdown in the new series The Night Manager on Disney Hotstar .

To be streamed  on Disney Hotstar from February 17, The Night Manager., A Hindi-language adaptation of John le Carré’s novel The Night Manager will witness a clash between Shelly Rungta and Shantanu Sengupta(played by Anil Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur).

Earlier this month, Disney plus Hotstar dropped the trailer of the spy thriller,  which will take viewers through the spiraling world of revenge, deception and revelation.

Produced by The Ink Factory and Banijay Asia, the web series,  created and directed by Sandeep Modi and second director Priyanka Ghosh, will open the doors to a web of secrets and conspiracies .

There is always more than what meets the eye, a thought that’ll compel viewers to dive further into the world of Shelly Rungta and Shaan. As the chase between the power-hungry philanthropist, Shelly and Shaan along with his companion from RAW Lipika (played by Tillotama Shome) begins, the latter aims to dismantle Shelly’s unholy alliance between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade along with Shelly’s partners in crime BJ (played by Saswata Chatterjee) and Jayu (played by Ravi Behl). 

Sobhita Dhulipala a.k.a. Kaveri plays the dynamic and charming girlfriend of Shelly Rungta.

The series is wrapped in lavish drama, picturesque sights and features the eclectic talent including Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee and Ravi Behl.
