Telugu period action drama premieres on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow

Amid the continuing uncertainty on reopening of theatres across India due to second wave of COVID-19 and looming threat of a third,  increasing number of filmmakers are opting for a direct OTT release of their films. 

Set for a release on the OTT is the much-awaited Telugu period action drama Narappa,  a film based on caste conflict.

Narappa a remake of the Tamil-language film Asuran (2019),  will premiere on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow. 

Telugu period action drama Narappa releases on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow 


Directed by Srikanth Addal, Narappa stars Venkatesh, Priyamani and Karthik Rathnam in key roles  and Rao Ramesh,  Naasar and Rajsekhar Aningi in supporting roles.

Narappa has been  jointly produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu and D. Suresh Babu under their respective banners V. Creations and Suresh Productions.

The film marks the second collaboration of Venkatesh and Srikanth Addala after working in the 2013 family drama film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu

Venkatesh plays the role of Narappa,  a person from an oppressed caste.

The film was scheduled to release on May 14  but was postponed due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic  The makers later decided to release the film directly on OTT.

Ahead of its release on Amazon Prime Video, , producer Suresh Babu said,'the film's core message is very powerful. It does not shy away from the truths. I am certain that it will impact in ways that no one would expect. I am incredibly happy that we are able to showcase our film to audiences across 240 countries and territories.'
