Emotional and action dramas entertain viewers on OTT this week

After action thrillers Collar Bomb and State of Seige: Temple Attack last  week,  romantic comedies,  emotional and action dramas will entertain viewers on the OTT this week.

Streaming on the digital screen this week are coming of age comedy drama Never have I ever  , Malayalam drama Malik and the action drama Toofan.

While season 2 of comedy drama Never have I ever and Malayalam drama Malik  began streaming  on Netflix from yesterday, the action drama Toofan is streaming on Amazon Prime Video from today.




Emotional and action dramas entertain viewers on OTT this week 



After a successful season 1, the American coming of age comedy drama Never have I ever  Returns for a second season on Netflix.

Premieinge on Netflix on July 15, season 2 of Never have I ever sees Indian American high school student Devi Vishwakumar(Maitreyi Ramakrishnan )  looking to take charge of her life one year after the death of her father amid the interference from her family and friends.

Season 1 of Never have I ever,  which premiered on Netflix in April last year , dealt with efforts by the teenager to come to terms with the death of her father.

Season 2 will see Maitreyi Ramakrishnan reprise her role from season 1.

It will also feature Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani and Niecy Nash in pivotal roles.

Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never have I ever is partially based on Kaling's childhood in the Boston area.

The first season received a good response from viewers.

This  week also witnesses release of Malayalam drama Malik on Amazon Prime Video.

Directed, written and edited by Mahesh Narayanan, Malik revolves around the life of Sulaiman Malik, spanning from his childhood to middle age, his rise to prominence among the people living in the coastal regions and his fight against the political corruption in the region.

Produced by Anto Joseph under the banner of Anto Joseph Film Company, Malik.  is based on real-life incidents about the increase in land acquisition cases, particularly in the coastal area.

After a slight delay due to second wave of COVID-19,  the sports action drama Toofan,  featuring Farhan Akhtar and Mrinal Thakur in the lead roles,  will release on Amazon Prime Video on July 16.

A sports drama Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Toofan,  will feature Farhan Akhtar as a National level boxer.

Rakeysh Omprakash mehra earlier directed Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the biopic on the life of Olympic medal winner Milkha Singh, Toofan 

The film also features  Mrunal Thakur and Paresh Rawal in important supporting roles.

The film was earlier scheduled to be released on October 2 2020, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. However, the release of the film was indefinitely delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic .

Later, the makers announced that the  film will  stream on  Amazon Prime Video from May 21.

However,  after the surge in covid cases due to the second wave of COVID-19,  the makers decided to postpone the release of the film in solidarity with people affected by the coronavirus infection.

Later, the makers announced a fresh release date for the film at July 16.

The film is being produced by Excel Entertainment of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

This is the second collaboration between Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

The trailer and promos of the film have created tremendous buzz for the film among cinelovers.
