Uttarakhand boy Pawandeep Rajan is winner of Indian Idol 12, Arunita Kanjilal is first runners up

Uttarakhand boy Pawandeep Rajan has emerged as winner of the 12th edition of the Indian Idol music reality show with Arunita Kanjilal and Sayli Kamble emerging as the first and the second runners up respectively.

Pawandeep Rajan was announced the winner of the music reality show at the end of a marathon grand finale of the event last night..

Pawandeep Rajan took home the Indian Idol trophy along with Rs 25 Lakh in cash and a Maruti Swift car.

Soon after the announcement of Pawandeep Rajan as the winner, he and Arunita Kanjilal hugged each other and congratulated each other on their win.,

While Mohd Danish from Uttar Pradesh secured the fourth place,  Nihal Tauro from Mangalore came at the fifth spot while Shanmukhapriya was at the sixth position.

Soon after he lifted the Indian Idol trophy,  singer Shaan and actor Anup Soni congratulated Pawandeep on his win.

Incidentally,  Pawandeep Rajan has daredevil the stage with Shaan and Shibani Kashyap at several music concerts in the past.

Actor Anup Soni also congratulated Pawandeep on his singing.

'Congratulations Pawandeep for the Indian Idol season 12 trophy.. Well deserved.. Good Luck for journey ahead , Anup Soni said.

Hailing from Champawat district,  Pawandeep Rajan has all along been considered as among the strongest contestants on the Indian Idol 12.

Pawandeep Rajan has had a memorable journey on the Indian Idol, having impressed judges and several guests at the Indian Idol show.

Pawandeep, who hails from a family of singers(his father  and sister are also singers) , began his singing career with The Voice of India singing reality show in 2015.

He has brought  out various albums and has been a part of various stage performances.  He has shared the stage with singers like Shaan and Shibani Kashyap.


Six contestants - Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Nihal Tauro, Mohd Danish, Shanmukhapriya and Sayli Kamble - were in the race to win Indian Idol 12 trophy.

A marathon grand finale of Indian Idol 12 , telecast on Sony Entertainment Network , sawe Pawan Deep vie with Arunita Kanjilal from Kolkata, Nihal Tauro from Mangalore,  Shanmukhpriya from Vishakhapatnam, Mohd Danish from Uttar Pradesh and Sayali Kamble from Mumbai battle for the title of Indian Idol 12.

For the first time in the history of Indian television, the finale of Indian Idol 12 ran for 12 hours, from 12 pm on August 15 to 12 am on August 16.

The presence of several celebrity guests during the finale episode  imparted a grand feel to the finale of the reality show . 

Among the celebrities who graced the grand finale were playback singers Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik,  Ufit Narayan,  veteran actor Anu Kapoor, and cast of the film Shershah,  including Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani.

The finale saw mesmerizing performances from Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Sukhwinder Singh, Amit Mishra,  Javed Ali and Udit Narayan as well as the six finalists.

Among the highlights of the show was South Indian superstar Vijay , in a televised message,  offering Indian Idol 12 finalist Shanmukhapriya a chance to sing in one of his upcoming films.

As Pawandeep Rajan lifted the trophy, the eyes of his parents were filled with tears.

The present edition of the Indian Idol began in November  last year  with  15 contestants.
