Big opening on cards for Bell Bottom as cinemas record heavy rush for Advance Booking

By Rajesh Ahuja

As cinema halls reopen in most parts of the country (barring Maharashtra) with screening of films like Punjabi film Puaada and the Espionage thriller Bell Bottom featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead,  magic of the Big screen is drawing audiences  to the theatres in large numbers.

While cinema halls screening Punjabi film Puaada have reported a rush of people to watch romantic comedy,  a heavy rush in advance booking has been seen for the Akshay Kumar Vaani Kapoor starrer Bell Bottom,  which releases in cinemas on August 19.

The Akshay Kumar Vaani Kapoor starrer Bell Bottom,  which is releasing in cinemas across India on August 19, is witnessing a heavy rush in advance booking.

Trade sources said that  advance booking for the film opened only this evening and already most of the shows on the opening day were filled up.

The sources said that almost all shows for Bell Bottom on August 19 are booked  at New delhi, Kolkata, Indore and Amritsar .

It is notable that the film will not be releasing in Maharashtra with the state government still not giving permission for reopening of cinema halls there.

Trade sources said that Bell Bottom has got positive response for advance booking at severalareas wherethefilm isreleasing, from Jaipur’s prestigious single-screen Rajmandir to major multiplexe chains.

A trade exhibitor said almost all shows for the film at the famous Rajmandir cinema in Jaipur have been sold out on August 19.

Trade Analysts feel  that if the advance booking trends continue, it could well mark the process of Revival of the film business,  which has incurred heavy losses due to the closure of cinema halls since March last year.

Earlier, Punjabi film Puaada, which released in theatres this week,  witnessed an encouraging response from cinelovers.

Puaada, which brings together the popular pair of Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa on the screen for the fourth time,  has created tremendous buzz among cinelovers ahead of its release.

Trade sources said that despite the threat of the Covid pandemic continuing, many shows of the film have been sold in advance.

Infact, cinema chains across the globe are adding more and more screens to keep up with the demand.

Puaada is having the biggest release for an Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa starrer outside of Punjab in India and also in the overseas markets.

The coming weeks will also witness the release of another big starrer Chehre,  a psychological thriller featuring superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in the lead.

Chehre, whose scheduled release in March had to be postponed due to the second wave of COVID-19,  is scheduled to hit theatres on August 27.

An unprecedented surge in covid cases in the country in March  resulted in  makers of mega starrers Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli2, Chehre, Sooryavanshi and Satyamev Jayate 2 postponing release of these films till a later date.

The Covid situation  adversely impacted the earnings of the films released in theatres during the period,  including Roohi, Mumbai Saga, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Saina.
