Punjabi film Puaada too makes a mark at box office
Another Punjabi film Puaada, which had released in cinemas on August 12, has also performed quite well at the box office despite a limited release and despite the Covid restrictions being in place across the country.
Puaada, which features the popular pair of Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa, has earned Rs 16.25 crore worldwide in two weeks since its release.
A bulk of the collections of Puaada have come from oversees markets like Canada and the United Kingdom.
While the film has earned approximately Rs 6 crore from India in its two weeks despite it releasing on just 50 cinema halls across India, it has earned over Rs 10 crore from overseas, especially United Kingdom, which is considered a big market for Punjabi films.
A romantic comedy, Puaada features the popular pair of Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa , who have earlier given three successful films.

The above average earnings of the punjabi films shows that audiences are slowly coming back to the cinemas after the long shutdown of theatres post the pandemic.
The good showing for Punjabi films, however, comes amid an average run for the Bollywood big starrers Bell Bottom and Chehre.
Despite a tremendous buzz surrounding Bell Bottom, the film earned Rs 18.75 crore in its opening week.
The less than expected box office earnings for the film have been attributed to the theatres across India operating at just 50 percent occupancy as well as to the closure of cinema halls in Maharashtra, which forms a big market for Hindi films.
In the second weekend, the film earned Rs 3.7 crore, taking it total earnings in 11 days to Rs 22.5 crore.
Chehre, the second big starrer to release in cinemas after Bell Bottom , too opened to average collections, earning Rs 45 lakh on its opening day on Friday. There was just a slight jump in its earnings on Saturday to Rs 60 lakhs, taking the earnings of the films in two days to Rs 1.05 cr.
The coming week will see the release of Hollywood films Fast and the Furious 9 and Shang Chi.
The only other big starrer scheduled for release in cinemas in September is Thalaivi, the multilingual film on life of late Tamil Naidu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
