Punjabi film Puaada grosses Rs 12.4 cr worldwide in 10 days

Riding on an engrossing storyline and the sparkling chemistry between Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa,  Punjabi film Puaada has grossed Rs 12.4 cr worldwide in its first ten days.

Puaada which released in theatres on August 12, becoming the first Punjabi film to release in cinema halls in the last 17 months, grossed  Rs 11.50 Cr worldwide in 9 days . The film grossed approximately Rs 90 lakh on its tenth day,  taking its total earnings in the first ten days to Rs 12.40 cr .

The lead pair of the film Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa are ecstatic at the response to the film at the theatres.

“Puaada has proved that good content whenever it releases brings audiences to cinemas! The entire Punjabi industry was waiting for a film to open the box office again after the lockdown and Puaada has shown everyone the way!! I’m super happy the film is being loved by everyone and that’s truly a blessing!,'the film's lead actor Ammy Virk said.

Makers of the film said that the film has been running to house full shows in various parts of the world.

Puaada is the first big budget Punjabi commercial entertainer to release in theatres since more than a year and half.

Makers of the film said that the film has managed to draw audiences to the theatres with its dose of good comedy.

Expressing happiness at the box office response to the film, it's female lead Sonam Bajwa said, “comedy looks easy but it’s one of the hardest genres to get right as making people laugh and have a good time is not easy.  We are grateful that at times like this we were able to deliver to audiences exactly what they wanted, something for which they can come to cinemas with their whole families and enjoy!”  

The Punjabi industry has a backlog of releases lined up for release.

The makers of Puaada are ecstatic that their decision to release the film now has worked for them and the entire Punjabi film industry.

Says producer Pawan Gill, “there was a lot of pressure to not only deliver audiences good quality entertainment but also to bring them back to the theaters. After Puaada’s success the punjabi industry is lining up all their releases and that is a very good sign for us all.

Now, Punjabi audiences can enjoy films on the big screen once again.” 

The makers previous collaboration Shadaa with Diljit Dosanjh broke all box office records when it released and now they are doing the same with their Puaada.

Reacting to the box office showing of the film,  producer Atul Bhalla said “it feels great to give audiences back to back entertainers, and we hope to continue to entertain audiences again and again with all our future endeavours as well!” 

The film, which brings together the popular pair of Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa on the screen for the fourth time,  had created tremendous buzz among cinelovers ahead of its release.

Puaada is having the biggest release for an Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa starrer outside of Punjab in India and also in the overseas markets.
