Kareena Kapoor shares first look of cousin Zahan Kapoor's Faraaz

By Rajesh Ahuja

After Ranbir Kapoor,  Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Aditya Raj Kapoor,  another scion from the famous Kapoor family Zahan Kapoor is set to make his debut in the Hindi film industry with Hansal Mehta's Faraaz, a film based on Bangladesh's 7/16 attack on a cafe in the Bangladeshi capital in which 22 people, mostly foreigners, were killed.

The late Shashi Kapoor's grandson Zahan Kapoor will make his debut in Bollywood with the film, which will be produced by Anubhav Sinha in association with Bhushan Kumar of T series.

Bollywood actress and Zahan Kapoor's cousin Kareena Kapoor Khan shared the first look poster of Faraaz on her social media handle.

Sharing the first look poster of the film,  Kareena Kapoor said,'When the night is darkest, faith shines brightest! Here's the first look at #Faraaz, a film on Bangladesh's 7/16 attack, by maverick filmmakers Anubhav Sinha, Hansal Mehta, and Bhushan Kumar which is an incredible true story of a hero who will restore your faith in humanity!'

Congratulating her cousin Zahaan on his debut, Kareena Kapoor said,'All the best @zahankapoor, super proud of you and can't wait to see you on the big screen!'

Faraaz is based on a 2016 attack on a cafe in the Bangladeshi capital in which 22 people, mostly foreigners, were killed.

The attack on the Holey Artisan cafe in Dhaka was carried out by a group of five men, who took diners hostage.

The 12-hour siege was Bangladesh's deadliest Islamist attack. Most of the victims were Italian or Japanese.

Besides Zahan Kapoor, Faraaz will also feature  veteran actor Paresh Rawal's son Aditya Rawal.

The  film will be produced by Anubhav Sinha in association with Bhushan Kumar of T series.

Shooting for the film has already started.

While Zahan Kapoor is the son of Kunal Kapoor and Sheena Sippy, the daughter of filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, and the Great Grandson of the late Prithviraj Kapoor,  Aditya Rawal is the son of Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampat.

Zahan makes his Bollywood debut with the film while Aditya Rawal  gets his big break with the film after his debut in the film Bamfaad, released last year.

Hansal Mehta and Anubhav Sinha had announced the film last month.

The filmmaker,  who recently won plaudits for the web series Scam 1992, says that Faraz is a special film for him.

On casting Zehan Kapoor and Aditya Rawal,  Hansal Mehta said that he was keen to do this film with fresh faces.

In a statement,  Mehta said,'with the subject at hand, I was keen on doing the film with fresh faces. Zahan and Aditya have been chosen on the basis of their talent.. Both if them play very intricate characters.  I am sure that the audience will love them.'

Producer Anubhav Sinha said the reason for casting rank newcomers like Zahan Kapoor and Aditya Rawal was to ensure that audience see them as characters rather than a star.

'We wanted to cast newcomers in the film as we want the audience to look at themas characters rather than any star with preconceived notions.
