Honsla Rakh earns Rs 17.50 cr during the opening weekend,is highest gtossing Punjabi film Worldwide

Continuing its strong run at the box office,  Punjabi film Honsla Rakh has earned Rs 17.5 cr worldwide during its opening weekend , becoming the highest gtossing Punjabi film worldwide.

Honsla Rakh,  which stars Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa and Shehnaz Gill in lead roles, earned Rs 9 crore in India during opening weekend while it earned  1.15 million Dollars(Rs 8.5 cr)  from the oversees markets in its opening weekend.

The film, produced by Diljit Dosanjh and directed by Amarjit Singh Saron,  now has gross earnings of its Rs 17.5 crore worldwide in its opening weekend.

Honsla Rakh has now become the highest gtossing Punjabi film worldwide during the opening weekend,  beating films like Shaada(Rs 16 cr) and Carry on Jatta 2(Rs 15.25 cr) .

The film, which also marks the debut of Diljit Dosanjh as a  producer,  has also set a record for the highest grossing Punjabi film overseas with gross earnings of 1.15 million dollars in its opening weekend.  The  previous record for the highest gtossing Punjabi film oversees in the opening weekend was held by Chal Mera Putt 3, released few weeks ago.

Honsla Rakh had earned Rs 2.3 cr on its opening day  in India.

The film had grossed over Rs 5 cr worldwide on its opening day on Friday,  surpassing the collections of Bollywood films like Bell Bottom,  which had earned slightly less despite being released on double the number of screens worldwide.

While Honsla Rakh was released on roughly 700 screens across the world,  Bell Bottom was released on nearly 1500 screens worldwide.


Honsla Rakh continues the strong run by Punjabi films in India and overseas, after a good showing bh films like Puaada, Chal Mera Putt 2, Yaar Anmulle Returns , Qismat 2 and Chal Mera Putt 3.

Puaada,  Chal Mera Putt 2 , Yaar Anmulle Returns and Qismat 2 have been rocking the box office in India even as the Covid restrictions in theatres and closure of cinema halls in Maharashtra impact theatrical revenues of Bollywood films .

Punjabi film Yaar Anmulle Returns recorded a decent run at the box office in India,  earning Rs 1.5 cr in its opening week despite the film releasing on limited screens in Delhi and Punjab.

The comedy film Chal Mera Putt 2  too had an above average run at the box office,  earning Rs 15 cr in four weeks , despite its release being limited to cinema halls in Delhi and Punjab.

Chal Mera Putt 2 has already created a record for the highest collections of a Punjabi film in the overseas markets at 4 Million US Dollars.

Earlier,  Punjabi film Puaada earned Rs 7.6 cr in gross revenues at the end of its third weekend in India.  The film has grossed Rs 8.6 cr in the overseas markets,  Including Canada , the United States and the United Kingdom at end of its third weekend,  taking its worldwide gross to Rs 16.2 cr.
