Two decadss after Gadar, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reunite for Gadar 2, to be helmed by Anil Sharma

Two decades after Gadar set the box office on fire with its adrenaline pumping action and a sweet love story between a Sikh and a Muslim, it's lead actors Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel will come together for the sequel of the film titled Gadar 2.

Gadar 2 also brings together the combination of Sunny Deol and director Anil Sharma,  who directed the 2001 film.

The film will be produced by Zee Studios in association with Anil Sharma,

Gadar 2 will also feature Anil Sharma's son Utkarsh Sharma, who played the son of Tara Singh(Sunny Deol) and Sakina(Ameesha Patel).

The film is slated for a release in 2022.

Music of Gadar 2 will be composed by Mithoon.

The music of the 2001 film was composed by Uttam Singh.

The announcement of Gadar 2 comes two decades after release of Gadar Ek Prem Katha, a cross border love story featuring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles.

Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar was set during the Partition of India in 1947.

 Loosely based on the life of Boota Singh, the film also starred  Lillete Dubey and Amrish Puri in pivotal  roles.

Uttkarsh Sharma featured in Gadar as a child artist who played Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's son.

Produced at a budget of approximately Rs 19 cr , Gadar: Ek Prem Katha grossed around Rs 133 cr worldwide,  going on to  become the highest gtossing film of all time during that period, surpassing the record of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.

Gadar is the second most watched Hindi  film in India since the 1990s.
