Gangubhai Kathiawadi to release on Netflix on April 26

After a successful run in cinemas, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubhai Kathiawadi will release on Netflix on April 26.

The film, which traces the journey of Gangubhai Harjiaadas from being a simple girl from Kathiawadi to becoming a mafia Queen of Mumbai, released in cinemas on February 25 to positive reviews and a mixed box office response.

The film is loosely based on the true story of Gangubai Harjivandas, popularly known as Gangubai Kothewali, whose life was sketched in the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S. Hussain Zaidi.

The film depicts the rise of a simple girl from Kathiawad who had no choice but to embrace the ways of destiny and swing it in her favour.[5][6][7]

Gangubai Kathiawadi premiered at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival on 16 February 2022, and was released in theatres on 25 February 2022.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and produced by Jayantilal Gada and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubhai Kathiawadi stars Alia Bhatt in  the title role and . Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari and Seema Pahwa in.

The film features Ajay Devgn  in an extended cameo.

Earlier, the film was scheduled for release on  July 30 last year but it was postponed due to the rising cases dur second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film was released in Hindi along with the Telugu-language dubbed versio.
